Yes, I have very sensitive skin. But, I am sensitive in general...it may all be connected.. To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2011 12:21 PM Subject: Is your skin sensitive?

I'm just curious...

Since I can "feel" sound on my skin, I wonder if that could be causing a limbic response to some sounds -- like a spider on your arm.

Does anyone else have very soft, sensitive skin?

Me too. Sometimes if something I am wearing is irritating, I have to run home and remove it and feel a need to scream.

Some things just rub me the wrong way....

I am sensitive in general. I cry very easily, more than most men I think. Probably more than most women too.

I think there is a connection with this and sound sensitivity. Just easily stimulated. We all seem to be highly sensitive people.

I am very sensitive, or thinned skinned as some might say. My dad used to tell me "I was too sensitive" He didn't mean any thing bad by it, it's just, looking at it from his perspective, and not knowing about these things, I was!

Some soft touches bother me as well. Some hard touches like when my husband pats me on my upper legs. It hurts. Not painful, but I am aware of it. I also leery of hugs. It always feels so award to me to hug, unless I want to hug someone. And even then, it still has an awkwardness to it. Any one out there feel this way?

Is anyone else sensitive to people's " energies " ? To be clear, I'm talking about

the " heebie-jeebies " effect when near only some people, and not others. I think

our actual physical skin can sense electromagnetic waves being emitted by all

living beings.

I'm trained in multiple bodywork techniques, but so far have not established a

business doing this. And I couldn't figure out why...until I learned about

Sensory Processing Disorder and Misophonia this last summer.

This is the thing. I'm good at body work, but hesitate at the thought of working

on new people. It's a strange combination. When doing the bodywork itself, I

feel very at home, and I get very positive feedback from almost everyone. But I

can also get very strong feelings of not wanting to touch or go near some people

-- and I don't really know how to resolve this.

Part of it though is the TRANSITION from being in my own space, to being in

someone else's. In fact, I have a hard time with transitions in general. For

instance, I love exercising, but have a hard time starting. I love gardening,

singing, and many other things, yet have a hard time switching gears.

When doing bodywork, I LOVE the " touch " factor...feeling connected to another

human being in a NON-sensual but loving way...feeling the healing energies work

their magic. But if the " wrong " person touches me, I feel invaded and my skin

crawls.

I think different people resonate at different frequencies depending on what

they focus on in their life. And if I come across someone whose focus is

" opposite " mine, I feel a strong repulsion.

OK...I got off on a tangent. But the skin may be a factor to consider when

looking at our sensitivities in general -- and maybe even misophonia?

I agree that people probably do resonate at different frequencies. I also feel it is possible that you might be picking up their thoughts because our thoughts are electrical energy, and that can be felt. Does that make sense?

I absolutely pick up their thoughts...and feelings, pains, etc. The challenge

has been learning to distinguish between which are theirs and which are mine.

It's obvious when the people I'm near are really different than me, but harder

when I share space with people who share my views, strengths, weaknesses, etc.

I think alot more people do this that are just unaware it's happening.

Years ago, on a retreat, we paired off to do a back-to-back exercise. After the

exercise was done, my partner's back was aching though he had no history of back

problems -- but I do.

And it's strange indeed when people are saying one thing and thinking/feeling

another. I experience confusion when this happens, because what I'm hearing and

what I'm feeling don't sync up.

Kat, when you say it's harder when you share the same views, is that because it's harder to tell if you are picking up on your feelings or those feelings of the other person?

Yes. I pick up on the feelings either way. But it's important to differentiate,

since I can only work on my own issues -- not someone else's. If instead I'm

feeling what someone else is experiencing, thinking it's my own, life can get

very confusing. It becomes like trying to solve a puzzle on the other side of a

mirror -- it's unreachable. Then it's easy to get in a funk because I'm unable

discover the source of my uneasiness since it was not my own. I feel like I've

spent many years of my life troubling myself over feelings that were not my own.

---Not to say I don't have my own issues, which I do! However, I'd rather work

on my own issues where I have internal feedback when I try to deal with an

issue.

On the flip side, I can look at it from another perspective...one in which we

are all connected in consciousness -- AND may have the ability to affect

consciousness shifts in others by proximity. If this is so, then maybe by

working on issues that I feel -- whether they are mine or not -- would be of

overall benefit, to myself and others. ...just a pondering thought.

, I have sensitive skin, too. I can't stand too-light touches, they have

to have some pressure to them or they feel creepy and give me goosebumps. I do

love hugs, but yes they do feel awkward, especially when I'm not the one who's

initiating them.
