Guest guest
Here we are, weeks later, still stalling on filling our prescription for flagyl. I understand that clostridia is something that we want to get out of our daughter's gut, but I am still hoping to do so in the gentlest (to dd, not the bugs) way possible. I'd love to hear of anyone's experiences trying to eradicate this without medication. My understanding is that Culturelle can be effective, but contains some casein (my daughter is extremely sensitive to casein). Saccharomyces boulardii is another option and something that people use after the flagyl. For the moment, I've increased probiotics (I give 1 and 1/2 daily of each of Klaire Detox, Therbiotic Complete and Factor 4...up from a little less than one of Detox and Therbiotic daily). We're working toward LOD but not there yet, as we are still nearly SCD and GFCFSFeggFnutF+ and I need to get enough food in...adding in low LOD and will take out hi OD when I have enough LOD tolerated foods to substitute. (thanks, !) Our thought is to re-test (OAT only? CDSA again, too?) again in a month or so to see if we've had any effect. Are there any other suggestions? Anyone else had success with this sort of approach? Any cautions I should be aware of? Are we just chicken? My dh did a round of flagyl as a youngster and does not remember the experience fondly and worries about liver toxicity. Maybe the drug has improved since then? Thanks so much, Carla, mom to Aidan (almost 8!!! and proudly riding a bike without training wheels !!!!!!!thanks to lots of OT help)
