Guest guest
Just found nice add-on for Firefox/Chrome: iMacros. It's free! It records macros for the browser to automate tasks. I'm currently using it to automate my e-prescribing. I'm using NuNova (also free); they were kind enough to upload all my existing patients, but it still takes extra time to put in the name and address of a new patient. I use my EMR to create a text file with the new patient's demographic info in one long line separated by commas: , Doe, 22 Main Street, St. Louis, MO, 63144, 08/01/1960, etc Many EMRs can export data to text or .csv (comma separated value) files. With iMacros one can create a macro that logs in to NuNova, goes to the the correct page to add new patients, takes the data from the text file and puts each part in the correct place on the form, and finally submits the new patient data. My next task is to figure out a way to enter prescription data only once but have it appear in two places: my EMR and NuNova. I'm not sure if entering the script in NuNova first and using a macro to transfer to EMR via text file is best or the other way around. Guest guest
Please pardon me if this has been discussed recently but I wanted to know how my fellow physicians like using the e prescribing feature through amazing charts. I just found out from them that it was an included option with their guardian angel support and I was thinking of activating it.Also how do you guys handle the unending requests for med records on Medicare/ managed plans. It really uses a lot of our time and we don't get reimbursed for it. Just frustrated! Is there a good program to handle incoming/ outgoing faxes through the computer ie to fax pt records as PDF files through the Emr. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all!NitaSent from my iPhone I tried imacro a while ago, a littltle glitchy... vut maybe I just needed to work more creatively... The one just before this latest was an issue with e-scribe but seems fixed. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Nita I love the e-scribing on AC with the following caveats: at times it takes 2 hours for the scripts to arrive at the pharmacy (this may be the pharmacy but they swear it's the company hub), watch which is hightlighted in that long list of meds (sending Nexium IV instead of capsule is embarassing) and the frustration of not being able to write things like 1 box of insulin but having to put in "1" and then in the comments section put the 1 box or 45 gram tube have to put "1" on the dispensing line and then the size tube in the comments line. Our contracts state that we have to make our records “available.” It does NOT say that we have to send them a copy. So we make them come to our office to review charts. Guest guest
Nita, If you go to the AC user board and look for Bert who has the most posts tell him & sent you and you are interesting in trying, buying FAP, File Assist Pro.... He and a computer buddy of his designed a couple of neat interface 3rd party programs with work with AC. You can use the internal Imported Items, but we just LOVE FAP.... Combined with something like a Brother 5-1 AIO like our laser printer that comes with a full copy of Paperport, rarely prints a fax anymore.. they come in "E" and the leave "E" and then get saved to FAP... Imagine a card catalog box with up to 20 tabs you can designate Name anything you like, so Like, Labs, or Tests, Calls, ER, Images, Spec Reports, Insur Cards and the like.... and with in each of these tabs it is broken down in alphabetical order so click on C and all your C patients come up... The beauty of FAP is it is tied directly into your AC database and the moment you add a patient in AC they are instantly available and cross created in FAP... Empty mind you, but they are now there to scan or import PDF you want... We also have a Fitjitsu scan snap 550 scanner and the thing in lightening fast and creates PDF's and comes with two legal licenses to full function Adobe, not reader but regular full function Adobe, which is the cost of the scanner alone right there!!! It is like getting one or the other for FREE!!! Really.... I have the scanner set to immediately scan to the inbox of FAP, where we rename the files by patient last and first name (easy to do, that is part of what FAP gives you) and the Catagory Tab of your choice.... click save import and there you have it... 10 pages of reports saved in the patients chart in PDF, dated, named and catagorized for every more and FAP has an easy to use, takes only a few mintues to run back up so at the end of the day run the back function and copy the folder to the external source of your choice for safe keeping too.... and you can back it up as PDF's or data files... Once we had a small glitch for a few days and was able to search ala filing system, by name and catagory right to the proper PDF and could instantly open up a PDF and have her saved important docs in a few mouse clicks... and that is the REAL beauty of FAP, now you can save your docs as PDF's and god forbid you have to change systems or programs, each and every doc you ever imported, scanned faxed and saved to FAP is there in a logical order by a great naming and filing system to be accessed or even imported to a new program without almost any headaches.... They're PDF's with perfect names in a perfect order by name and catagory... So contact Bert and tell him you want to use it and how much we raved about it and what a great guy he is... Which he is. He is one of the main guys always willing to assist another doc or office with an AC, or computer system problem and he knows what he is talking about... One of the best friends I have ever had, and I have yet to meet the man face to face after making his aquaintance back in 2004 or 05.... Let me know how it goes.... Guest guest
I must say that if I had a contract that said I had to do it for free I would not renew with those guys without trying to negotiate thatI had a big to do about this stuff here a few yrs ago and knock on wood they have not requested records since i asked to be paid But these plans bury this information The contracts say you will [participate acc. to the utilization plan which of course is accessed some other place than the contract an d you do not know what you have agreed to I am mostly medicare here and not much advantage but I write this in before I sign contracts My one big advantage plan here pays for records and pays for telephone call and and ev isits becasue they " get it " It is shame we spend so much time on so much embarrassing crap like I do not work for free It belittels us and burns us out and makes us so money grubbingJean Myria, Double check your contracts. Guest guest
Kathy, It only works with the AC database attached if you are refering to FAP.... But yes one of the beauties of FAP is you can save all the docs as individual properly named, dated and subject filed PDF docs... So what you do with them after that is as endless as great "E-Doc's" that are in such a logical format... God Forbid something horrible becomes of Dr Bertman or AC, all those docs are that easy to access and copy, cut, paste into another system... Or you simply want to retire, real easy to pop them up and email them, fax them what have you... Whatever you can do with a logical set of organized PDF's is at your disposal... Like I said, we had a small glitch once when updating version of AC and so FAP was not available for like a day or so until Bert and I ironed it out... all the PDF's that were in fap were there in that back-up folder and only had to click her way thru the very logically saved and stored back-up folder which I put temporarially on her desk top for easy reach if she needed something... And one of our self created subject tabs in "Old Charts" fowarded to us from previous practices... BOOM, there is the entire chart at your finger tips... BUT Best of all is the ease of living with it in the Exam Room... Now always has both programs running at the same time... Why??? Because NOW she can have a report open at the very same time she is doing something else in the chart like charting or what have you, no tabbing back and forth in AC and not having both at the same time... Now she can have her Cake and Eat it too, Report here, Chart there.... two separate windows, because it is two separate yet synced together programs... Guest guest
Kathleen, Part of what Meaningful Use is trying to accomplish is to have a “portable” patient file that is easily transported from one EMR to another. Theoretically it is so PCP’s and specialists can pass information about mutual patients back and forth “easily.” Right now, this is not possible in a real world setting. However, if you were to save your charts to PDF or TIF, you could import them later. For example, in e-MDs, we scan outside records into Docman (which is where all documents are stored). We would have the capability of storing records from another EMR in that location in the patient chart, but the individual chart notes would not show up in the Chart portion of e-MDs. When I helped Dr. Roy transition out of our office to his new office, he kept e-MDs. He bought a practice from someone who was on e-ClinicalWorks. As he saw patients, the staff would “print” the eCW stuff to a file and then import it to e-MDs so that eventually everything would be in eMDs. It was a fairly simple, although time consuming, transition. I’m sure there might be someone out there always willing to make a $ if you wanted to pay them to write an interface between the 2 systems that would electronically do this without staff involved. Guest guest
Yes, , but then I have to tie myself (or my new nurse) up to show them the chart! How do I keep them to just the charts they request once I open the EMR for them if I don't sit there watching them? I would love to challenge this again as I sit with requests I have ignored for the past 2 weeks. Thanks for suggestions. I just found out from them that it was an included option with their guardian angel support and I was thinking of activating it. Also how do you guys handle the unending requests for med records on Medicare/ managed plans. It really uses a lot of our time and we don't get reimbursed for it. Just frustrated! Is there a good program to handle incoming/ outgoing faxes through the computer ie to fax pt records as PDF files through the Emr. Thanks in advance and Happy New Year to all! NitaSent from my iPhone I tried imacro a while ago, a littltle glitchy... vut maybe I just needed to work more creatively... Louis, MO, 63144, 08/01/1960, etcMany EMRs can export data to text or .csv (comma separated value) files. With iMacros one can create a macro that logs in to NuNova, goes to the the correct page to add new patients, takes the data from the text file and puts each part in the correct place on the form, and finally submits the new patient data.My next task is to figure out a way to enter prescription data only once but have it appear in two places: my EMR and NuNova. I'm not sure if entering the script in NuNova first and using a macro to transfer to EMR via text file is best or the other way around.Mike Barron -- Sangeetha Murthy M.D 7830 mont Mesa Blvd #287 San Diego, CA 92111 www.mypcponline.com -- MD ph fax impcenter.org
