Guest guest
Thanks for your sage advice. Happy holidays to everyone tooSent from my iPhone End of this recent post says that Aetna "best payor" in California and BCBS (I take 3 flavors of BCBS in Western PA); aetna's my worst payor. I did unofficial survey here about 6 weeks back; Medicare "worst payor" in NY, NJ, Ca, but a "reasonable" payor in my area. Go figure. And I still have 2,3 people on Aetna HMO, they pay all of $2.30/month.... Matt in Western PA Blue Cross Rejection letter Do you thin it would be illegal for me to publish this rejection letter from BX. I had asked for an increase in my pay rate to the Medicare rate ( they are the highest payer in CA). It said stuff like how lucky I am to be able to have them provide me with patients, how fortunate I am to have available to me all these services, etc. Should I respond to them and if so how? Anyone get one of these letter and had a successful rebuttal? BX is my lowest payer, and the most hassle. Considering my practice is full, ie not taking new pts, may be I should drop them...but my BX pts are some of my favorite pts. Guest guest
Well, even though our contracts may be for a small or modest amount above the Medicare Insult of a Fee Schedule especially for all of our Bread and Butter E & M codes, those same contracts are Biased and directly related to the Medicare Fee Schedule be same year or in some cases prior year fee schedule so for example in 2010 such a contract would be based on prior year IE 2009's Fees... So I cut in Medicare is a direct and immediate cut at the moment it goes into effect where as others are there but Delayed until the following year making them all the more "Fun" as you wait10-12 months for the pain to begin... The gamemanship just never stop and it is hard to imagine anything being much more biased and inbalanced then what we are presently required to put up with... Guest guest
We are paid higher by Medicare here than in a lot of places. That's what the GPSI adjustment is. So our commercials pay less than Medicare, but I'd guess that if you compared it to somewhere that has a lower cost of living ( and thus a lower GPSI), the commercial reimbursement might be about the same dollar-wise but would be higher than Medicare. At least that's what I'm telling myself to keep some of my delusions alive! We call it the California tax.
