Guest guest
Hi Laurie, I ve had 4s since early age, maybe even from before I went to school. I am 27 now and I developed vertigo when I was 25 and I have had a couple of episodes of that since then. I don't know if these two are related but I got it all just like you. Sent from my iPhone Could there be any connection between BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and 4S? I know one person besides myself that developed 4S pre-adolescence, and we both developed vertigo in our late 40's. Life just isn't fair. Anyone else get vertigo? Guest guest
Hi Laurie, I have 4s and I have vertigo too!! I started with the vertigo about 3 years ago soon after I turned 50. I actually woke up one morning extremely dizzy. I was terrified and thought I was having a stroke or something. The room wasnt going round but it felt like something was going round inside my head!! I was screaming for it to stop. It must have lasted 30 seconds but it felt like 30 years!! I was so badly shaken up that I cried all weekend after that. I saw my doctor on the Monday morning (I had booked an appointment before hand) and she said it was BPPV. Since then, every night when I go to bed, I am scared in case it comes back!! It does come back too, though not as bad. I either feel like I am falling to a side, or I feel giddy and my balance goes just as I am going to sleep or I wake up slightly dizzy. But once I move a bit, it seems to stop the dizzy feelings. I wouldnt mind but I have a phobia about dizzyness and going to bed on a night is no longer my "safe place". I am just wondering how I will cope with the MRI scan I have got a week on Saturday?!!ShirleyTo: Soundsensitivity Sent: Tue, 24 August, 2010 19:33:11Subject: Vertigo and 4SCould there be any connection between BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and 4S? Guest guest
Hi shirley,Sorry to hear about that, try and use the vibrations of the mri as grounding or if that doesn't work pretend its a rollercoster that you are in control of, keep your eyes closed and let the vibrations help guide you, gently play with the spinning sensations, hopefully you trick your brain into a different mood set and not fear the movements when you know you can "play" with them.I have done this in the past when I have been extremely dizzy, helps with my neck caused dizziness too "well helps my mind and mood anyway"Good luck Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3Sender: Soundsensitivity Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2010 08:33:47 +0000 (GMT)To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: Vertigo and 4S Hi Laurie, I have 4s and I have vertigo too!! Guest guest
Thanks . I will try and do as you suggest. Apart from the 4s I have a real phobia of dizziness so its just unlucky that I have to be troubled with this.ShirleyTo: Sound sensitivity <Soundsensitivity >Sent: Wed, 25 August, 2010 9:44:21Subject: Re: Vertigo and 4S Hi shirley,Sorry to hear about that, try and use the vibrations of the mri as grounding or if that doesn't work pretend its a rollercoster that you are in control of, keep your eyes closed and let the vibrations help guide you, gently play with the spinning sensations, hopefully you trick your brain into a different mood set and not fear the movements when you know you can "play" with them.I have done this in the past when I have been extremely dizzy, helps with my neck caused dizziness too "well helps my mind and mood anyway"Good luck Sent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3 Sender: Soundsensitivity Date: Wed, 25 Aug 2010 08:33:47 +0000 (GMT)To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: Vertigo and 4S Hi Laurie, I have 4s and I have vertigo too!! Guest guest
I just had a very interesting conversation with a gal that is my age (50) that also suffers with vertigo and was diagnosed with meinere'sDisease over ten years ago. What she told me astounded me asshe said she was cured! After ten years of different medications, low salt and other diets, she had no relief and became so desperatethat she tried hypnosis. And it worked! She has a tape that she listened to every day for several weeks. After almost two years, her vertigo is gone as is the tinnitus. These days, when she getsany twinge of ringing or being a bit dizzy, she simply listens to thetape and it seems to cut it off at the pass. I have a couple of theories about this. One, it actually works andtwo, maybe her meinere's simply burned out ( as it is apt to do after a number of years). I wonder if this type of thing could also help with 4s? I didn'task her if she suffered with 4s but now I wish I would have. What do you guys and gals think? Worth pursuing? Like her, Iam desperate.....ThanksCurtisGood always wins. So be good! I get vertigo sometimes but that's due to pressure on C1 and 2 from a MVA, still working through that, but I know there have been a lot of people on her with...minziers (sp?) Guest guest
I often feel dizzy when I stand suddenly, after sitting for a long period (eg on the train for 50 minutes) or after squatting (e.g. squatting to look at books on a bottom shelf at a bookshop, then standing up - that usually makes me quite dizzy and light-headed and I have to grab hold of something solid). I have always associated this with " orthostatic hypotension " (low blood pressure caused by change of posture). I take medication for high blood pressure. Consequently I don't have high blood pressure, and sometimes even have lowish BP, and I can experience a sudden drop in blood pressure when I change posture. I once fainted in the shower and ended up in the casualty ward at the local hospital. My BP was really low. The doctor said that it was a combination of waking up, and having a shower pretty much straight away - my BP was already low from recent sleep and the warm shower made it even lower ... and my brain wasn't getting enough blood to stay conscious. I have no idea about BPPV, though. Moral of story: there could be different issues for different people - Menieres disease, BPPV, orthostatic hypotension, etc, etc. > > Could there be any connection between BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and 4S? Guest guest
I did this once with motion sickness. I was flying from Sydney to Melbourne (roughly like flying from NY to Chicago), and it was rather bumpy and I was feeling queasy. So I imagined that I was in a WW2 movie about bombers flying over anti-aircraft guns (I had seen quite a few of these movies while growing up), and the bouncing was being caused by exploding flak. It worked! It was almost fun and I didn't suffer more nausea. Of course, it would make perfect sense to a Sydney-sider like me to make a bombing raid on Melbourne anyway. > > Hi shirley, > > Sorry to hear about that, try and use the vibrations of the mri as grounding or if that doesn't work pretend its a rollercoster that you are in control of, keep your eyes closed and let the vibrations help guide you, gently play with the spinning sensations, hopefully you trick your brain into a different mood set and not fear the movements when you know you can " play " with them. Guest guest
I have heard of a couple people making progress with 4s with hypnosis (by this I mean I read it online some where so who knows?) I have also heard of people with 4s who have not found hypnosis helpful as well. but medical science is taking a new look a hypnosis as neuroimaging tools show that interesting things happen in the brain with hypnosis. so i am keeping that one on the back burner.trying a tape doesn't sound like a big investment, so why not? Guest guest
I forgot to mention that the only time I have vertigo is when I am laying down and I move my neck a certain way. I know there is a term for this, but I am not sure if it is BPPV or not. > > > > Could there be any connection between BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) and 4S?
