Guest guest
Chances are you are going to have to create this and be the driving force of it since this condition has not been studied.Good luck and go get 'em!Heidi I discovered recently I am a sufferer of misophonia, and since realizing I am not alone or crazy I know for a fact this is what I want to dedicate my life to learning more about. I am 19 and a student at Seton Hall University in New Jersey studying Psychology, and am looking for a possible internship involving misophonia research for over the summer. I approached my school career center, and they did not even know what misophonia was, and told me to find an easier internship. I know this is an extremely informal way to try to find internships, but this field is so limited that I am not sure of another way to even approach it. If anyone knows any doctors, or of internships available, I have a resume and am extremely interested getting one step closer to making day to day life easier for not only me, but every other sufferer. Guest guest
What a wonderful idea this is. My suggestion would be to scout around and find every possible academic/ researcher/ scientist who might be interested (in the fields of audiology, sensory processing, psychiatry, neurology, etc) , and write to them all seeing whether you can spend the summer doing a research project under their auspices. You can target everyone within traveling distance of where you are, which seems to be NY to Philadelphia. I would guess you would need to be extremely persistent, or else have the good luck to find a sympathetic person. As Heidi said, you are going to have to generate this on your own. Also, ask everybody you contact to refer you to others, which will broaden your target and might yield people you haven't thought of on your own. > > I discovered recently I am a sufferer of misophonia, and since realizing I am not alone or crazy I know for a fact this is what I want to dedicate my life to learning more about. > > I am 19 and a student at Seton Hall University in New Jersey studying Psychology, and am looking for a possible internship involving misophonia research for over the summer.
