Guest guest
I hate gum-chewing people and feel EXACTLY as you do. I suffered immensely during the 9-week training for my job because i didn't want anyone to think i was a wierdo. But since then I have asked offending co-workers to stop. It gets hard for me when I have to remind them a second time, though.

Guest guest
OK, I know I'm biased in that neurotic way we all know and love, but why, *do* so many people think it's cool to go around chewing a mouth full of gum? They look like cows or something, chewing on cuds. In a meeting today, an elderly woman across the table from me sat next to a teenager and both were chewing away, now and then making one of those little smacking sounds that come out when they leave their lips open. I had to restrain myself from mocking them. Does anyone else find themselves mocking people who make annoying sounds? It doesn't endear me to friends, etc. so I can generally hold myself back, but sometimes it slips out before I can catch it.
Guest guest
My best friend chews gum constantly, but she knows how much I hate it and is usually pretty quiet when we are together and usually spits it out. Sometimes she doesn't realize she's making noise and I just say " GUM! " and she stops.. We kind of laugh about it but she understands that I really hate it. It's sort of a joke among all of our friends that there is no gum chewing allowed in my car or house! My parents and fiancee however, think I'm nuts. " Relax! You're so damn high strung all the time!!! " I guess only a lifelong best friend could understand and fully accept my " quirks " without question. :-) > > OK, I know I'm biased in that neurotic way we all know and love, but why, *do* so many people think it's cool to go around chewing a mouth full of gum? Guest guest
But why not up the anti. In a respectful way, I mean. "Food" is anything that nourishes and maintains growth. Gum does neither. I tell my children they are not trash cans. Since gum is not nourishing, it is trash. That's where it belongs. Just because others choose to trash their bodies, doesn't mean we have to. Why not encourage a world of more respect and reverance, for ourselves, our bodies, etc. That's just my view. I can do that working with children. I would never do that with adults of course. I know children are taught that "moderation" in poison (processed garbage, commonly misnamed "food") is okay. I never directly counter parents or adults, but I do tell my children they are not trash cans, and encourage them to respect their bodies. They are so much better then that. Incredible how much work it takes to convince them of that fact. Just my 2 cents.
