Guest guest
you know, I have to agree, but hopefully there can be a positive spin? Maybe someone will win a car.I have my fingers crossed but am reserved all the sameSent from my BlackBerry® smartphone on 3Sender: Soundsensitivity Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2010 01:05:53 -0000To: <Soundsensitivity >ReplyTo: Soundsensitivity Subject: Re: Dr. Phil show Speaking of " Am I the only one? " , am I the only one who feels a little weird about these Dr. Phil appearances? Of course, I share the hope about more awareness and having people maybe see the show and realize they're not alone, I'm uncomfortable with two things. First, as people have already pointed out, Dr. Phil knows NOTHING about 4S (which is not his fault) and does not acknowledge this, pretending instead that he has all the answers (in my opinion, this is unethical of him: misinformation can be dangerous and harmful). Second, sometimes I feel like the Dr. Phil show should be retitled " Weird People With Weird Problems " . Some people watch it like it's a freakshow. I'm not sure if it will increase the possibility of people taking us seriously or decrease it. What does everyone else think?-Kate>> Is this OUR ? I know we have one here. I almost deleted it since I rarely watch Dr. Phil. I know he had little help for Joan, our other member, who went on his show quite a while ago. I for one, am gonna tune in for this one! Below is a copy of a " teaser " for his weekly shows that comes to my e-mailbox. > > > Have you ever wondered, " Am I the only one who ... ? " Joined by Emmy Award-winning comedy writer Strasser, Dr. Phil answers guests' questions about seemingly unique behaviors. LaTisha worries about her daughter's obsession with . Since his death, her 9-year-old has developed a major crush on the pop star, but is it getting out of control? Then, Tyler wants to know if he's the only guy who acts like a girl when dating. Find out what he means and how he's scaring away the ladies! And, says she has a low tolerance for background noise: sniffles, dogs barking, birds chirping, gum chewing, ceiling fans and more. Why is she so sensitive to sounds? Plus, meet a woman who wants to know if she's the only wedding planner who can't seem to get down the aisle, and a mom who says she's so embarrassed of her son's predicament, she can't talk about him with anyone. Are they the only people with these issues?>
Guest guest
I'm going to dvr it for this coming friday. Has it already been taped? If not, anyway to contact the person who is going to be on to ask her to make sure to mention it's called 4S and what treatments don't work and mention the site and Dr. ? If nothing else she can show the public there is a support group and that dr. phil doesn't know squat. I too really find his know it all attitude offensive.I will watch it just because I'm curious. However, Dr. Phil bugs me because he seems to act like a "know it all" type of guy. He doesn't know anything about 4S and I imagine he will label this as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder... end of story. If he really wondered about this person and her sensitivity of sound, he would seek out doctors who have REAL experience with it and not put a false label on it. >> Speaking of "Am I the only one?", am I the only one who feels a little weird about these Dr. Phil appearances? Guest guest
Found it, it's a rerun of the one from January. Systemic desensitization ...wonder if Dr. Phil did a follow up?http://drphil.com/slideshows/slideshow/5518/?id=5518 & showID=1374http://community.drphil.com/boards/?EntryID=10423From: daogress To: Soundsensitivity Sent: Mon, June 28, 2010 5:56:11 AMSubject: Re: Dr. Phil show It doesn't look like he is on the list of shows that are available to watch for free, at least not where I could see. I don't know how far in advance the shows are taped. (not his greatest fan either) I agree, it would be a good thing to let her know about us. Come to think of it, if she was one of us, she surely would have said something? I am not sure how one would go about finding her and letting her know about us. I guess navigating his site, and getting her a message that way? I can't help but want to watch the show, and trying to hold on to some kind of hope he won't try and label it something it is not. I agree that it might not turn out to be the best kind of "publicity" for us. I too, am going to keep my fingers and toes crossed.
