When this country was founded the 2nd amendment held no less stature

than the first. It was (and still is by many) felt to be the keystone

with which government is held at bay. It spoke to the freedoms ensured

by having a well regulated militia, and by such militia keeping

government in check.

Today we have lost site of the meaning of those then simple words, just

as we've lost site in modern definition of the terms High Crimes and

Misdemeanors.

Tutelage is in order on a National scale.

During the time of the authoring of the 2nd amendment, the law required

every household to be armed and every able-bodied man to be available to

the militia - to fight against ANY government that violated the

inalienable rights of mankind - including the United States government

if necessary. The founding fathers were not pro government at all.

Similarly for those not knowing, High Crimes are still prosecuted in

jolly old England, from where this particular phrase originated, and are

defined simply as: " Crimes committed by those holding high office " . In

other words, something as mundane as driving while intoxicated - a

Misdemeanor, constitutes a High Crime when committed by an official in

High Office such as Judge, a Police Chief, or the President of the

United States. Was this known in the Senate of the United States? Yes.

You must embrace your own opinion on the acts of those Senators in

office during the only impeachment of an elected President in the

history of our Country.

If one wants to truly understand the objective of 'gun control' one must

look beyond the rhetoric of " protecting our children " to the treaties

signed in the late 1950's and continually signed off on by every

succeeding President; in fact to the very treaty that promises to disarm

the United States and place its Military and para-military (police)

establishments under the rule of the UN. My apologies at suggesting you

do the studies yourself if interested, but I have personally read said

treaty, my failure to recall its name and number makes it no less so.

There is more to this than meets the eye; The acts of two insane

teenagers who had previously been arrested and released from confinement

after counselors pronounced them " good to go " , and who had been reported

to authorities for making explosive devices (pipe bombs) but whom the

authorities refused to investigate, are horrific indeed. They speak

loudly to the moral decay we suffer in America enroute to being a

Fatherless country. That is not a term that should fall on deaf ears.

For those to young to know, the last time that term came into common use

was in reference to Germany after W.W.I when all of the men were killed

and the children left fatherless. The country grew into moral decay and

launched Adolf Schiklegruber into infamy as Adolf Hitler.

But moral decay is different than gun control. Control all the guns you

want, but if you're a statistics buff and do a bit of research you'll

find far more people in this country of all ages succumb to the violent

onslaught of edged weapons than do to firearms. Where are the " knife

control " advocates? For every person, man woman or child injured or

killed by a firearm in the US, you will find nearly 20 or more injured

or killed by edged weapons. And how about blunt instruments? Where are

the regulators of baseball bats? Yes bats and knives injure and kill far

more people than guns in this country, but they are poor weapons against

an armed military set upon the citizenry. Guns however, are not. But

then, you will not find " all " military small arms for sale to the public

either and so the first bite was taken in the name of Al Capone. Funny,

today gangsters have fully automatic machine guns and machine pistols -

as always - and as always law abiding citizens are at their usually

nonexistent mercy. As those gangsters out in the West are fond of saying

to their victims, " No Corazon Aqui " (translated: No Heart Here) a phrase

I heard often just before planting them behind bars as they would step

into line behind thousands of others waiting to take their turn at

trying to assassinate me upon their release.

These acts should not be used to further erode nor remove those

constitutionally guaranteed freedoms in place; Indeed, they should be

used to call the alarm for a re-awakening to the depths of immorality we

are slipping into. But alas, those same soles who so blithely embrace

the " Do Your Own Thing " mentality also embrace the disarmament of the

country leaving all the victim of those whose depravity does NOT prevent

them from being criminals and preying upon the now disarmed and

weakened.

We see disarmament already on a National scale today as our military,

the weakest it has been since before the bombing of Pearl Harbor, is

stressed to its maximum limit prosecuting a very minor regional

engagement in the Balkans. We are ill prepared to defend ourselves if

subject to a real attack the likes of the last great wars. And just in

case you don't think that can happen again, look around. Nation against

Nation, people against people, race against race - these are the wars of

today now, and the pieces are in place...

But then it is always easy for those who see today as all there is to

forget that Freedom Is Never Free - somebody has to pay for it, and pay

with blood. That has been true from all eternity, whether it is eternal

freedom, or mortal freedom, that truth does not change.

Geoff, First may I say that I appreciate your e-mails to this support group

more than most that I read. You are informative, articulate, sensitive, and

just damn funny. And, while I realize that there are others out there who

support you in your political beliefs (I have read their positive

responses), please be aware that not all on this list do so. I agree that

each of us has the right to speak our mind on any subject, however I believe

this is not the forum in which to do so. We have all come here for

information and support on arthritis not tutelage on the American

constitution.

Please keep sending those great e-mails on arthritis.

Hi ! Geoff Crenshaw here.

>> each of us has the right to speak our mind on any subject, however I believe

this is not the forum in which to do so. We have all come here for information

Thank you for your kind words and civil disagreement over the politics

of the issue. I am known to occasionally raise the ire of those with

whom I would proudly stand in debate, having occasioned the ability to

do so upon the blood of my forebears. However you should know that I

would not have written upon the subject of Littleton or gun control at

all were it not for the post preceding it to which my comments were a

response.

That said I can only assume that you mean for *BOTH* sides of the issue

to refrain...

Hi ! Geoff Crenshaw here again...

I forgot just one little thing. As I stated before, my comments were in

response to a posting by a subscriber to the MoveOn organization. I

would not have posted those comments at all otherwise.

To me, it is the worst kind of greed to try and make self-serving

political hay from the deaths of others lost in these gross

inhumanities. The speeches coming from politicians and their ilk

attempting to capitalize upon the grave sites of those children killed

and injured is beyond disgust - regardless of whether one is pro or con

on gun control. These people have no regard for the person of those

killed, or those left behind. They don't know these kids; they don't

know their families; They feel no loss, no emptiness; They cry no tears

of mourning. They do not " feel their pain " ; The only thing they feel is

their own opportunity for gain.

My ire would be just as great if MoveOn had put forth a call to arm all

Americans based on Littleton, as it is to disarm them. Although my

response would have been different were the call to the opposite side of

the lectern, I would like to think it would be equally impassioned and

doubtless rudely blunt.

Hi Folks - Figure it's time I check in here. How about it just moves itself over

to the Chat list instead. That's what it was created for. I understood the first

post to be a one time " make you aware " kind of post. That's no big deal

and I appreciate those. But once again I was up to 59 messages in less than a 24

hour period. Some of that isn't just Geoff's couple of political posts. But

again it's also the one to two liner responses to Geoff that went public

instead of direct. The other heavy-weight at the moment is the virus problem

which I assume every one on the list has a vested self-interest in and is all

but mandatory that we resolve.

Anyhoo, just a reminder that we have the AP-Chat now for those into politics,

etc. and that the one-liner directed messages need to go private.
