The Wonder of Press-Ganey

Alas I'm not REALLY an IMP, as I still work for a man--a nicer " MAN " than most, but still part of a large hospital corporation/group.As part of my annual review last week, I had to look over my Press Ganey report.  I did make improvements in some areas, other areas could be better.  But what really got me annoyed was apparently a negative comment was listed from a patient , that more or less said that I was two hours behind in clinic and made them wait, then it happened again and they would never return to see me.

The problem, of course, is that I've never been 2 hours behind in my 3+ years on the job.  They were apparently referring to ANOTHER doctor in my group.  But when I asked about getting this removed apparently its NOT a simple process but would eventually fall off given enough time.

Given that I am sure hospitals and suits are using Press Ganey to get rid of, and or justify salary cuts or payment changes based on PATIENT SATISFACTION, I'm not happy with that answer.

Is there any recourse? Talk to a press ganey person if they have a procedure to actually fix it?  Is it really as hard as my employer claims or perhaps press ganey is just not scientific and is just another tool the non-medical types use to torture the medical providers?  Unlike some of my partners, I am not trying to become best friends with my patients nor do I refill their pain meds and antibiotics whenever they want--so I imagine that would effect how satisfied the patients are with me and or my care =-- I imagine that ain't gonna help my press ganey score.

I did have the highest percentage of diabetics with HGA1c Below 8 and ldl below 100, so my metrics were better than my peers...
