If you have a web based EMR it should work. Otherwise you can use something like logmein to control another workstation. I have tried that and found it slowed me down. You need a newer printer from HP to print from an iPad right now. We use our iPad mostly to have the patient use How's your health. We were going to use it to have patient watch some patient ed videos but a lot of those are written in flash and don't work on the iPad. Youtube does work on the iPad however. For most EMRs I would recommend the Macbook air over the iPad if you are going to use a lap top. You can run Windows on the Mac if you need that. For a lot of people who are solo-solo a desk top might be cheaper and work just as good if you are not switching rooms.

running on an ASP version of e-MDs. I’ll have Steve test it on the test

We currently have e-MDs running on an

in-house server. We are converting to an ASP version of e-MDs in January.

Steve has tested it on their test patient database and it works quite well.

Although now he is going to have to see if he can print! I’m not sure

that he tested that yet.

And after 5.5 years of no internet down

time, now that we have signed up for an ASP, our internet went down today.

AT & T won’t be out until tomorrow to fix it. Now I’m wishing

that we had spent the extra $100 and gotten the iPad with 3G. But I am

thinking about getting an aircard for backup. Will look into the cost of that

tomorrow. Good thing everything is still in-houes today J

The Santas in OC are more generous than the one in LA. Please share your experience. I am on my own since my husband wants me to get a PC and not supporting my switch to Mac. I think everything will be compatible except with my Fujisu scanner might need some new software and wondering if back ups can be done on the same hard drive as my PC. My husband does my back ups and would be nice to have it go on the same unit. Larry do you know?

Santa is bringing me a MacBook Air, so I'll update you in a few days.....

I'm excited, but also wondering how many issues I'll encounter as I switch over.

They are light weight, seem hard to break, fast, etc, etc.

They are called COWS-computers on wheels, just need a few utters. I have a small Ikea desk to hide my theromometer, pulse ox, scrap paper, pens, stapler etc.Pt rest their arm on the same table for BP checks. My lap top sits on it...saving up for MacBook Air so I can throw in my purse and run out of office to pick up kids. Anyone using MacBook Air? Do you like it? IS it compatible w OA etc?

If you are running the Mac os on the Mac computer I think that the hard drive would need to be partitioned with part of it for the Mac and part for windows. Hard drives are cheap though. If you hook up a hard drive to your Airport (wireless router) you can have the computer auto back up every 15 minutes using the built in backup software that comes with Macs.

Thanks Larry. That looks easy enough. But I think I will be running windows on my new mac. Does back up have to be partioned? can I do the back up you suggested w Mac OS or PC ?

any other laptop in the office. It is so easy to carry from room to room. It

doesn't weigh any more than an old style paper chart. I have a 13 inch size so
