Oh wow. Thanks for your reply.

Actually my first letter was regarding a girl in my class. But while reading your letter I could "see" one of my boys in my mind's eye. Spot on description.

Being sensitive myself (to everything), and thanks to this forum, I've noticed sensitivities in a few of my children. One is a boy. He plugs his ears with his fingers when there's loud noises around. I've seen him do this several times. Sweet little boy. Just lately though he's been hitting, pushing, kicking, classmates. Woah. This is new. I wouldn't be surprised if what you are sharing below is similar to what may be going on here. Perhaps.

What would have helped (right word?) you early on? From your language, you say "I learned that if I kicked up a fuss . . . I'd get the attention I needed." Attention would be helpful. From a super-caring/attentive teacher? Would that have made a difference?

This kid is so incredibly needy for attention. Admittedly he really tries my patience with constant interruption and demand for it. But if I need to make in adjustments in myself (meaning, more patience, from somewhere), then I can certainly work on that.

Thanks for sharing.
