Guest guest
You are not the only one. I can't stand the sound of kissing on TV; it's gross and annoying. I think foley artists deliberately "sweeten" the noise, or perhaps the set microphones just pick it up really well. I have a friend who had a course in how to put a show together, and I asked him why no one ever tones down the sounds of kissing (or gasping for air in singing), and he didn't have a clue. He thinks the sound is a bit gross too, but it doesn't set him off.I have a hard time getting rid of the memory of sounds too. Usually imagined violence or music help. Oddly, the affectionate "mwah-mwah" sound doesn't bug me.= M-F.> To: Soundsensitivity > Date: Fri, 2 Apr 2010 03:43:14 +0000> Subject: Kissing?> > Hello, I am almost 20 and I have been suffering from 4s as long as I can remember. From what I recall, kissing was the first or one of the first triggers for me. If I saw someone kissing on the television, I would immediately clap my hands over my ears. If I wasn't fast enough and heard it, I would go into a rage and start beating myself over the head in order to "make the sound go away", as it would repeat over and over in my head. I don't hit myself anymore, but it still bothers me just as much. If I see a couple kissing near by, I get very angry and make loud comments about keeping it to themselves, and if I see it in a t.v. show I will still cover my ears. Funny enough, if I kiss someone, it doesn't bother me at all. Other sounds that bug me are gum chewing, eating, my dad picking at his nails, and silverware on a bowl, specifically if my mother is doing it.> > I've been skimming web sites and I've yet to hear of anyone else who is bothered by the sound of kissing. Guest guest
Ugh.. the other day I was at the doctor and they had soap operas on in the waiting room. This couple was making out and the kissing sounds were making me so sick!!! However when I am kissing someone it doesn't bother me... go figure! :-) > > Hello, I am almost 20 and I have been suffering from 4s as long as I can remember.
