Guest guest
I've been making mine with soy wax instead of beeswax and I use emu for the oil part. So, my basic recipe at this point is one part soy wax, one part emu oil, and one part cocoa butter (whatever your preferred cocoa butter type is). I have had wonderful luck with emu's healing power! Guest guest
Cootie in the dictionary said: slang for louse, coined by seaman of old and also used as slang term for lice during World War I by enlisted men I've always taken cooties to mean anything dirty, contagious, germy.....kind of like little kids running around with their hands in their mouths and up their noses. Anyhow, I brought it up because someone mentioned store bought lip balm usually contains preservatives. Mine don't and they're not cootified, my 4 year old has her own tube and believe me, she's a certified cootie spreader and her tube is covered with tidbits of lint and dirt, but no appearance of molds or bacteria that I can tell. Maurice did say cooties only grow in water not oil. But I did make a whipped body butter that grew creepy black spots, I scented/flavored it with vanilla extract, so maybe I overdid it with the extract although I thought that was alcohol based, but just the same, that was the only " liquid " I added. ~

Guest guest
Anyhow, I brought it up because someone mentioned store bought lip balm usually contains preservatives. , that would be me--I was quoting Maurice - this discussion came up before on list. He listed the preservatives in one of the popular lip balms-I don't use 'em-hate'em, as a matter of fact. I have made them, but I just can't bring myself to push them, so I've never sold one. I can barely tolerate lipstick, and the feel of wax on my lips just doesn't pull my chain. Unfortunately, they are sometimes necessary and extremely helpful Coral
