Guest guest
There's a movement to provide better tracking, insurance and care of living donors. The focus now is on kidneys, but liver has been mentioned. http://www.ama-assn.org/sci-pubs/amnews/pick_00/hlsa1009.htm And on a related issue, I just got my new benefits booklet for HMO Illinois (a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan) and they've added coverage for living donors. A plan member is covered if he/she becomes a living donor. And if a plan member receives an organ, the plan will cover the donor, if they don't have insurance elsewhere. (Of course, they're talking direct medical expenses only, but still.....)
