>>>> Hi all my severe non verbal 7yr old has to have a tooth

extracted under sedation, I am told he will have to have antibiotics,

seeing as I blame antibiotics for all his gut problems I was

wondering how I can protect him from further gut damage other than

giving him his probiotics as usual,

Well, probiotics are good and that is the usual 'fix' for preventing

antibiotics from trashing the gut. Besides that, you might want to

stay steady with enzymes for meals and increase proteases between

meals. This will help the antibiotic be more effective as well as

strengthen the body while it fights an infection.

Some recommend antioxidants at these times for the same reasons:

vitamins A, C, and/or E. Extra proteases after the extraction should

help the tissue heal faster and reduce pain. At my house, I also

increase magnesium to help a little with pain and relaxing (because I

know we run 'deficient' and magnesium is effective for us).

>>>>Also he will be restarting Nystatin soon and again wondering if

that will kill off the the good bacteria in the probiotics.

I haven't heard this reported. I think it only targets yeast, but it

might affect probiotics in some way. Anyone know this???
