Guest guest
I am 44 and have had misophonia since I was small and mine was due to a stressful and abuse-filled childhood. I have done things like counseling, hypnotherapy, EMDR, meditation, etc. to get rid of my annoyance at mouth noises. Something that has worked well in the past is Lovingkindness Meditation. I should get back to it, in case it can help me more if I keep at it longer. This week, I was in a cramped training room with a bunch of other people for two full days. Most of the participants ate almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, and chewed dubble bubble gum to stay awake during the meeting, along with eating lunch at their desks, and I was fine with it, because I like the people at the meeting and I relaxed and made myself feel expanded and at ease. Those attendees that I barely knew, I radiated lovingkindness well-wishes toward them. So, I was very happy. In fact, it sucked to get back to the office, even though I have my own separate room, because I hate any and all noises my nextdoor officemate makes. The reason is; she is very immature and has gone to my boss to complain about me over stupid stuff like there were crumbs on my desk after I ate lunch, or that I should order holders for my paperclips so my office looks better or that I should decorate my office so it looks pretty. My boss being a weakling and this annoying woman being a diva, my boss would come and tell me what this woman said and tell me to follow up on her stupid advice that had nothing to do with work. This woman is just an old, ugly, unhappy, busybody woman, who just can't leave people be. Anyway, I cannot stand a single bit of noise this woman makes. I can't stand her talking, her chewing, I can't even stand being in the same room with her. She is loud with both talking and chewing, but I have made it so I am okay with most everyone who is loud in the office. I can't even open my office door, because I am on edge that this woman is so close. Are any of you like me where your annoyance depends on the person, but it is still genuine annoyance?
