Guest guest
Gail,When I got off steroids my doctor had to reduce it by half mg at a time. Ever had to taste a Prednisone pill cut in half? lol most horrible taste of medication I've ever experienced. But it finally worked that way for me. Perhaps you may ask your doctor if that would work? From: glmrphy@... Subject: Stomach again... Last week, I started tapering my Pred, 5 mgs one day, 2.5 the next and so on. Supposed to do this for 3 months. I am already feeling the effects, achy, rash is out, very tired. I can never drop below 5 mg, my body does not like it at all. Beginning to think my adrenal glands have atrophied and I will need to take it for the rest of my life. The goal is to just rely on Kineret eventually, but I am skepitcal. Take care everyone, Gail (KY)
Guest guest
Gail et al., There is a simple Cortisol level blood test that will tell you and your doctor how well your adrenal glands are functioning. I took an 8 am cortisol test every time I dropped my Prednisone dose by one mg. after I got below 10 mg. per day. It was very encouraging to see that my adrenal glands had just been sleeping and were not dead. Good luck. Cannon JCannon@...
