Hi From the Mind of Gordon

Never had a convulsion or an ear infection … or for that matter a head injury. But I know for a fact that my 4S started very early on in my life (having to sleep with a fan is the first memory at around 3 years old).

Don't mind my own chewing sounds as long as I don't have earplugs/earphones

on... then it bothers the crap out of me. And honestly? I don't remember eating

as a trigger early on. However, my husband's grandmother is a big woman who eats

with her mouth open and that trigger started about 10 years ago. Can't sit

across from her, can't look at her, must talk while she's chewing...

I just read a pamphlet given to me by the brain injury association that states that one way children and infants (especially ) are affected by " baby shaking"...oh boy, what a can of worms!!I'm wondering if an untreated ear infection as a baby could make a fundamental difference in the way we listen, hear, and develop.KipFrom the Mind of Gordon

My mother won't really get into details about my childhood illness', she blames herself for a lot and that makes it difficult to get an accurate description.I do have an uncle who started having kids at age 40; one girl has autism and the other two have aspergers.  I was checked out for both(due to the 4s and other erratic behaviours), but it turned out to be an aquired brain injury from 20 years ago.  I'm seeing a new ent this week, apparently he is progressive and open-minded...we'll see when I mention 4s!  I usually say "hyperacusis" so they can identify, then explain.I'm starting to think it's all connected!KipFrom the Mind of Gordon

I had a lot of ear infections as a kid, as well as a lot of strep throat and bronchitis. But the supposed febrile convulsions I went through don't seem to be as extreme as yours were, Mr. Kip. I only remember blackouts, and my parents, when they noticed, only saw that I was non-responsive. My eyes rolling back and the "sensation" of my brain rolling back were an isolated incident. Maybe they were more related to my Asperger's syndrome? (shrugs) The sicknesses seem to be slightly more likely.= M-F.> To: soundsensitivity > From: kip.gordon> Date: Fri, 29 Jan 2010 09:49:33 -0800> Subject: Febrile convulsions> > I checked this out-convulsions caused by fever from infection, a large portion of which are from ear infections!!!> > I asked my mom, and she said they never had me treated: my grandmother was a nurse and knew that the
