Guest guest
Hi Bob, Here's what I use for most of my meals : 1. Lowfat cottage cheese. Easy to get and no preparation reqd. You can eat 1/2 cup or 1 cup depending upon your calorie requirements 2. Fat Free fruit yogurt. Easy source of protein.Again , no prep. reqd. Just buy 6 oz. containers. ( I mix 6oz yogurt with 1/2 cup cottage cheese. That's one meal! And gets ready under a minute.) 3. Protein powders : Always have protein powder at home in case you want a quick shake. The chocolate powder can be mixed with milk/water and tases good. With strawberry powder just mix 1/2 a banana and 1 cup milk and it tastes really good!! With Vanilla , then add 1/2 a banana,1 cup milk and 3-4 cardamons. It tastes really great!!! The you can have a shake and that will be your meal. Prep time : 2 mins 4. Canned tuna/chicken + lowfat mayo + veggies(onion+tomato or peas+carrots) makes a very great meal.have it on a piece of toast and you have carbs + protein. 5. For dinner/lunch you can grilled chicken breast or fish.Although that might take time! Hope that helps Harsh

Guest guest
Hi Kelley, >I remember you. ---Thanks. >I am the non-chef type myself. I pretty much stick to the same basic stuff week in week out. ---Well, you've done well and have stuck with it, so it must be working for you. I printed your email and will try some of the recipes. I also joined that BFL Recipes site and will snag a few of them. Guess I'd better take the dive and get in the kitchen....... I used that Optimum Whey Protein as well, it was pretty tasty, even just mixed with water.....I'm a chocoholic......What do you do, grill outside or in the oven? Guess I need to learn about spices and how to mix them......chicken and rice gets pretty old...... >YOU CAN DO THIS. YOU HAVE JUST GOT TO WANT IT BAD ENOUGH. ----Well, I'm giving it another shot. I'll need this groups support to hang with it though, that dang recumbant bike gets old and I know I need the cardio. Any other people in this group who are cardio-challenged? Guest guest
Hey Bob, Cardomon/Cardamom is actually an aromatic seed used in almost every dish served in Indian cuisine. And I think its readily available in almost every town in US. I am in Peoria,IL which is a very small town and I was able to get them, so you should have a problem getting them.I am sure you can find them online. If you cant , I will search and let you know. They really enhance the taste of the shake...(I have tried drinking vanilla shake just mxed with milk or mixed with banana and milk..but doesnt taste very good.)..You can also add cinnamon to the shake, but I have found cardamon to be the best! Buy the 1%- 2% Low fat Cottage Cheese. And if you mix it with fat free yogurt , it tastes good..At least I like it that way. My girfriend grew up on cottage cheese and she can eat it plain or with pepper sprinkled on top...but I cant get it down that way. Free days start with a brekfast at IHOP (cos in this small town there are ahrdly any good places where you get good breakfast)....We eat pancakes/french toast and most important coffee with HALF and HALK milk....umm....tastes real good. Mostly we try to have food that we crave for all week. Of course we eat moderately but we dont care if its too fattening or not. Free day is actually GuiltFree day for us. For me, I felt that the Free Day was the 99% key to my success. Since I knew I could eat smething craved for, on a free day, I could keep going! So eat whatever you want. We cant overdo it ..cos we dont get that hungry in between meals..also my stomach hurts after almost every meal on the free day..but I still love eating all kinds of food on free day. Hope that helps Harsh What is/are cardamons? What type of cottage cheese do you use? I'll have to get used to that stuff. Maybe mixing it as you suggest might do well for me. Guest guest
Bob, feel free to email me any time for moral support. I know I needed alot when I started, and now that I am seasoned, it's my turn to give. =) An idea for easy reipes for yourself are crockpot recipes. In that group I gave the link for, if you check under the FILES link on the site, there are tons of authorized recipes. If you click on " recipes " and then when the next screen comes up, click on " crockpot " . At the moment, there are only 1 or 2 crockpot recipes posted, but I have about 50 AUTHORIZED recipes that can be cooked in a crockpot. I'll try to get a few more up tonight for you. Guest guest
Bob, I am actually cardio challenged for the next couple of weeks at least because of shin splints. (I pushed those 10's too far.) I am limited to a stationary bike. I do however (and I don't know if this will work for you) try to walk alot. And you can use waslking as your cardio as well. Normal walk for your 5 -brisk walk for your 10. Liz http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BFL_Recipes-Eatingforlife/ > Hi Kelley, > > >I remember you. > > ---Thanks. > > >I am the non-chef type myself. Guest guest
Liz, Thanks, I truly do appreciate your sincere offer, it means alot. My wife is worried that I might keep gaining and she wants me around for a while. She doesn't ride me about it at all, which I appreciate. You and the people in this group will be a necessity for me to be successful, since I tried 3 times on my own and didn't make it. Ego's out the window now, I'm buckling down and giving this another go, but on a more balanced scale - with both the exercises and the meals. I joined your other list, looks like a good one for potential recipes. We do have a crockpot and I will definitely take you up on your suggestions! Thank you very sincerely, Bob > Bob, feel free to email me any time for moral support. Guest guest
Speaking of cottage cheese and mixing....here is an interesting thing I do sometimes when I am desperate for a treat: Kind of mash up the cottage cheese a bit to make it a little smoother. Mix in a little bit of Fat free Ranch dressing powder mix (the kind that comes in an envelope and you are supposed to add sour cream). Then I take 1 OUNCE (this is a serving) if the fat free WOW Ruffles Potato Chips (there is no extra added chemicals that are in other potato chips - it's pretty much just potato and the fat free oil), and I dip the chips in my cottage cheese dip (I use 2/3 cup of cottage cheese for a serving, you would use whatever is a serving for you). Liz > Hi Harsh, > > ---Thanks for the list, I printed it and will try some of it too. What is/are cardamons? What type of cottage cheese do you use? I'll have to get used to that stuff. Maybe mixing it as you suggest might do well for me. What do you do on your free days? How do you reward yourself? > > Thanks for the help Harsh, keep it coming as I go along, > Sincerely, > Bob > > > > > > > Hi Bob, > > Here's what I use for most of my meals : > > 1.
