Tami,

What about Sacramento, CA. It is centrally located, has some beautiful hotels, and is easy to get a flight from the East Coast.Blessings,

Kelley

I hope you don't mind...I'm the kind of person that needs people to bounce ideas off of.

As I'm looking all over the West Coast for potential sites for our 2010 conference, they all have pro's and con's. Here are some options so far...

1. Same place as this year (Radisson Fort McDowell Resort) (seemed to work well for all)

2. Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA (good rate, beautiful room, GFCF foods, can bring the family...but is it overstimulating for our group?)

3. Palm Springs or Tucson (both have some beautiful resorts but are more difficult to get flights in from the East Coast)

I'm also looking at places up in the Bay area but haven't found a good fit quite yet. (price and space wise)

Thanks for any input.

Yep...I'm looking into those areas but there aren't many that meet our criteria for meeting space, where the exhibits would go, etc. Also..many hotels won't take our group because they want to book bigger groups and pass by on us. That happened last year. I wanted the Hyatt Regency in sdale in a big bad way, it was so beautiful. They wouldn't even give me a quote. Holding out for more $$. Also many hotels only want to do weddings and pass on us for that. So it takes a lot of detective work to find the right place at the right price for us.

1st choice #2 Disneyland Hotel Anaheim CA

1. Can get the entire family to go and stay before and after conference possibly at reasonable rate and go to Disneyland, possible family vacation.

2. They have foods for our families in their menu; GFCF.

3. Disneyland really caters to our families in EVERY way with the ride pass as well as the food options.

4. Local vendors possibility like GF Meals and Green Cupcakes perhaps??

2nd choice #3 Palm Springs area

1. Loved where we went last year too.

3rd choice #1 (Fort McDowell) or #3 (Tucson)

1. Arizona was pretty.....

You had asked before Tami what made the conference work so well and without a doubt it was the Borrelia yahoo group. You guys all have "known" one another now for well over a year online and seeing one another face to face was like going home to "family" because aren't we a family on this journey? Anywhere we go will be awesome it doesn't really matter. Its the people that make the difference. Now I sound like Dorothy from Wizard of Oz....no place like "home" but home is kind of with you all......

I like the trip just like it was, but would be tempted to overdo near a disneyworld because I am obsessed with the mouse. In Arizona, I would have liked to try out that non chlorine pool. I really liked Arizona. I guess, if California, maybe a secluded part of california...like marin county perhaps? It is supposed to have really great air for chemical sensitivity and got A+ air ratings when I chekced a long time ago. If I am taking the family the purpose would hopefully be more to have them all try out different therapies, so close proximity to alternative therapies that are new to try is a big factor for us. Plus for a fundraiser, don't you make more $$ if you can get more celebrities? And aren't most of them in California? In California, being in close proximity to a not crowded yet very nice kid friendly beach is good:) One with clean sand and those little sand crabs you dig for. Or tide pools.

By the way, as far as food alleriges go, no one does food allergies and cooking better than disney! They made my daughter a birthday cake back when she could only eat 8 foods! And it was amazing and yummy. We had them make her two cakes while we were there. They have a very organized form and system for dealing with all types of food allergies. I mean, hats off to those chefs there, for that reason alone, Disney is unmatched for food. We only did the food at the orlando disney, but it was an event.

I guess if I have my choice, I would want a serene environment, like the one in Arizona. Something away from the hustle and bustle. With the LIA Conference being so busy and the vendors so great, all I want to do is experience the Conference, the vendors and socialize with my Internet pals. So, I am not even going to have any energy to think about outside things. Looking at the great view in Arizona, without all the city hustle, was quite nice and added to the "experience".

Love and prayers,

I fully agree w Heidi, l wouldn't like the hazzle of a combined "family-conference" trip, would distract me too much and IMHO the opportunity to share w listmates, parents would be highly diminished.I liked the location and would be happy to be there in 2010.IsaEnviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de TelcelFrom: Ambitionn01@...Date: Wed, 8 Jul 2009 11:01:42 EDTTo: <BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism >Subject: Re: Need some opinions I guess if I have my choice, I would want a serene environment, like the one in Arizona. Hello all. I just wanted to comment that because it may or may not be around the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim doesn't mean that it's not serene or that you HAVE to bring along your family. That's totally your choice. I have been to a conference at the Disneyland Resort Hotel in fact the Grand Californian that is partly IN the park and we felt removed from the park but knew it was there if we wanted to go in the park etc. Perhaps Nora can comment on that as we both went to that conference (Apraxia 2007). The Disneyland Hotel is further from the park though there is a monorail if you would like to go in the park. Some people did want to make the conference into a family trip before or after the conference and this is a nice place to start to do so. I understand the need to "get away" and respect that of those who feel that way. I think there is wiggle room to get away from the family during a conference such as this and then if one wishes perhaps bring in family after for a vacation or not. Your call. How we will work it is how we have for the past 3 years LIA conferences with myself going to the majority of the conference and husband going to the ones he wants to see but with our lil man in tow. He's been to Irvine, Indian Wells and also Arizona now!

Anyhow wherever we go wherever Tami gets a great deal I am certain it will be wonderful!

I would also have to agree with Heidi. Next year my husband is planning to

attend, and if we made this a family event - there would be no way I could enjoy

Disneyland with them as I would be in the conference the whole time or helping

out. I couldn't really afford to stay more then those given days. Another thing,

I need to be 100% focused - an if I had children running around or needing my

attention it would be to hard for me.

I really enjoyed the Arizona location or maybe you can find a place somewhat

like this - it was peaceful.

But, even if you do decide to go there...I still be attending just w/out my

family.

When I attended the DAN! a few yrs back they held their conference at the Hyatt

Hotel in Garden Grove - I really enjoyed my stay.

You all saw me juggling and running the conference at the same time, it wasn't easy, and was really good. We definitely can go back to Arizona at the same hotel, they have offered me a better price and even cheaper room price for the attendees. So that is a HUGE option. There is also the Hyatt Regency in Irvine (we had our 2007 conference there) and they have offered me a smokin' deal as well. I know Dr. Mercola would be much happier with me if we did CA...he doesn't like the heat. Any other hotels near the beach in CA will be way too expensive, but I could check them out.

I would also have to agree with Heidi. Next year my husband is planning to attend, and if we made this a family event - there would be no way I could enjoy Disneyland with them as I would be in the conference the whole time or helping out. I couldn't really afford to stay more then those given days. Another thing, I need to be 100% focused - an if I had children running around or needing my attention it would be to hard for me.I really enjoyed the Arizona location or maybe you can find a place somewhat like this - it was peaceful. But, even if you do decide to go there...I still be attending just w/out my family. When I attended the DAN! a few yrs back they held their conference at the Hyatt Hotel in Garden Grove - I really enjoyed my stay.Lorina>> I guess if I have my choice, I would want a serene environment, like the > one in Arizona. Whatever is meant to be. I don't want you stressing on this. We'll be happy wherever it is.
