My mom was not on any anti-depressants when she conceived my sister or me. She

does have a history of depression though... to this day. Both my sister and I

have 4S. And now, we think her oldest son (7 years old) has it too. Hard to

tell, but he's acting as if he might. I have my fingers crossed he's not cursed

with this though.

I'm on Prozac now and really want to get off of it before we try to start having

children. I know the studies out there say it's ok to be on it... but I really

just don't want to run the risk. There are too many unknowns. My fiance is a

microbiologist and doesn't like what he sees for studies out there. That said,

all the doctors say it's ok to be on Prozac while pregnant. I'm just hoping to

find an alternative.

Ugg. Not fun.

> I took Prozac while pregnant with my first child. I tried to go without for

the first trimester, but couldn't eat or function. The doctor said the risk

of not taking it was worse because in order to take care of myself and my

pregnancy I needed to eat and be able to function. I didn't have any problem

after that. My daughter is 13 now. Actually, she is the one with 4s.

Wonder if any other parents out there with 4s children were taking

antidepressants? Anyway, my second pregnancy I took zoloft the whole time and

everything is fine. She'll be 4 next month. I agree with going with your gut

though.
