Guest guest
Hi, I haven't used CLA so I don't know but from what I read it sounds promising. I use Glutamine, UDOs, Fish Oil Caps, and a Multi-Vitamin. These are things I use every day. Otherwise, I also use Myoplex and Protein powder pretty regularly. I know several women that have used creatine so I don't see why not. It is supposed to help lift more. Not sure what results women on the list have had with it. Perhaps, someone will share. EFAs are said to be good for a lot of things. I take them and am not depressed so maybe they work Andy > I was wondering who used supplements and what kind? > I just bought CLA, and just started using it. Has anyone used it, and does it > work? Guest guest
Hemp oil is the best and I've seen it at the Natural Foods market and online. Sadly, it is too hard to get in the US. It should be widely available but the anti-hemp lobby is too strong. Another reason I guess to live in Canada where hemp is legal. The US government actually used to pay farmers to grow hemp to make rope. It has a lot of good uses, but our overly restrictive government won't allow people to grow it here. Currently, hemp products are legal to buy, but some people would like to change that as well. At one point a year or so ago, I was afraid I was going to have to purchase my Granola with hemp seeds in a dark alley at an inflated price. I've purchased plain hemp seeds to eat as well. Andy I've read that Hemp oil is supposed to be > even better over the extremely long term, but I have yet to see it anywhere. > >

Guest guest
Better hurry up and buy it too since many of the manufacturers of fat burners are taking ephedra out of their products due to liability issues. Hugh is taking a fat burner does not have ephedra or its cousin and he said he can really feel effects the stuff. I think it is loaded with caffeine. Andy > Depends on what you want to do. I'll guess it's lose weight. Just pick a fat burner with ephedra in it. I reccomend xenadrine, or ripped fuel (even ripped fuel extreme). Unless you have heart, liver, hydration problems, or a family history of them, don't believe the hype. Try them out. If you feel uncomfortable taking a fatburner with ephedra in it, then stop and drink green tea, or something with caffiene before a workout and that'll do the trick. > > Matt have been removed]

Guest guest
I just read in MM that a lot of companies are following suit and not going to be selling Ephedra-based products. They even mentioned that people better stock up now. EAS has already stopped selling the products. The companies all agree that they are probably safe, but the liability isn't worth it. Andy > I really doubt they will because then alcohol and a lot of other crap will be taken off of the shelves too due to issues. I can't wait until people study it better and realize people are either abusing it or have a family history of health problems. Remember the Orioles pictchure Steve Bechler who died from heat stroke and people pointed at the use of ephedra? HEre is some pre-existing conditions that the man had. > > Better yet, check out the article for yourselves. > > http://www3.baylor.edu/HHPR/ESNL/EphedraStatement.htm > > Matt

Guest guest
Aram, I do not use any supplements. During my first year, I did drink the Myoplex Lite shakes (and switched to half of a Myoplex shake) for convenience. Now, I eat only whole foods and an occasional bar. I have never used creatine, fat-burners or whatever else that is on the market (CLA or something). ly, I just couldn't afford all the bells and whistles and I wanted to be able to maintain a fit body without relying on anything but healthy food and my hard work. Guest guest
Sara! Thanks for your quick responses to both my intro and question. I feel better about the supplement issue now. I wasn't comfortable with the idea of using them, however I can see from your photos that you do fabulously without them! Thanks again, Aram

Guest guest
Hi Aram Thanks for asking this question for me...I was about to ask the same thing The last thing I wanted to do was spend a whole bunch of money on pills and then have to swallow them all. I ordered the myoplex shake mix since planning 6 meals a day is very hard. I found the shake mix for $48 for a 42 pack and that comes out to a little over $1 per meal which is very cheap. So, I'll probably do 3 shakes a day and then fix regular meals for the other 3. Good luck! Guest guest
Jon, That's what I did for a long time - I drank three shakes and ate three meals (and occasionally swapped a shake for a bar). If I had tried to jump in and eat 6 meals a day, I don't think I would have made it very long. That's a great price for the shakes....it'd be hard to come up with a healthy whole food meal for that price. Sara I ordered the > myoplex shake mix since planning 6 meals a day is very hard. Guest guest
Thanks, Jon. I tired doing SlimFast once and made it for less than a week. There's something unsatisfying to me about drinking a meal. At least yesterday, my first day on the plan, I found myself in heaven with these 5 meals and a snack (the last meal I treated as a late evening dessert, mixing cottage cheese and yogurt, and I found it delicious!). It doesn't seem to difficult to carry around the extra bit of food so far. Of course, I'll have to be a little more creative when I go down to New Orleans for vacation next month! Guest guest
Aram, I'm currently on week 8 of my first challenge and I have not been using any supplements. I have been using the Myoplex Carb-Sense Ready-To-Drink shakes to replace meals. So far, I have lost 29 lbs. However, because of the GREAT success I have had without the supplements, I am going to try some of EAS's supplements that are recommended by Bill for weight loss, just to see how much they can help me. Good luck with your challenge!! -Tony > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people who ARE > using them? > > Thanks, > Aram
Guest guest
Thanks, Tony! It sounds as though you're doing wonderfully already. It seems to me from what I read that Bill is very into the healthy lifestyle, so I would imagine that the EAS products are quite good. I look forward to hearing what differences you notice after using the supplements.
Guest guest
Aram, Tony, I have been taking supplements. I take a multivitamin and add Amino Acids. I also have a whey protein shake usually at least once a day mixed with a piece of fruit. I use the amino acids to help repair my muscles after working out. However, as Sara stated, you do not need them to make the BFL program successful. I haven't taken creatine and am playing around with the idea to increase my muscle mass. Guest guest
I forgot to mention the $$. I get my amino acids and vitamins from http://www.vitaminshoppe.com The vitamins and the Amino Acids cost about $30 each. The Amino Acids will last me 2 months. The vitamins will last me 5 months. I don't know if the supplements make a huge difference or not since I started taking them once I decided to get healthy again. > > > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > > > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people who > ARE > > > using them? > > > > > > Thanks, > > > Aram
Guest guest
, I did some resaech into Creatine a few years ago when I was considering using it. What I found out is that creatine is a lie. What it does is to make your muscles hold more water. They will indeed look larger and more massive, but cut the creatine, and all that water runs right out again. Now, small amounts of creatine have been proven to help in muscle recovery, and stamina building, but the " muscle mass " idea is false. Personaly I wouldnt use straight creatine, I would use another supplement that contains it, but not use it straight. But then again, I could be wrong..... > > > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > > > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people who > ARE > > > using them? > > > > > > Thanks, > > > Aram
Guest guest
I have heard the same bad news about creatine. So would it make sense that if you are using creatine and the scale isn't budging, it's probably the water that creatine is making your muscles hold? I dunno...just guessing at a theory here. My creatine dilemma has been solved though, since this is the second post I read about the " creatine lie " today. -Larissa > > > > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > > > > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people > who > > ARE > > > > using them? > > > > > > > > Thanks, > > > > Aram
Guest guest
, You are probably right. Most supplement info is hype just like the diet pills. However, I have ready that it increases your stamina allowing you to lift more thus more muscles. Anyway, haven't decided one way or the other. > > > > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > > > > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people > who > > ARE > > > > using them? > > > > > > > > Thanks, > > > > Aram
Guest guest
Well, it does do that. It helps with muscle recovery, and thus helps to build stamina. But to get that effect you dont need to pound 32 grams a day. you can get what you need out of eating most meal replacment bars. I was only reffering to the muscle mass idea. Yah, in small doses creatine can help. But in large amounts it just fills your muscles with excess water and makes you look bigger. > > > > > Is there anybody here who is doing Body for Life WITHOUT the > > > > > supplements, and are you having similar success to the people > > who > > > ARE > > > > > using them? > > > > > > > > > > Thanks, > > > > > Aram
