Guest guest
Hi Sara, I think it depends on the program how this is handled. Typically, either the recipient’s insurance, the recipient, or the program take responsibility. The recipient should be notified if their plan does not cover complications for the donor because if your program does not cover, they would be personally responsible. The donor should never be made responsible for complications from donation. Hope this helps! Recipient did not elect to take Medicare. Recipient’s insurance does not cover donor complications. Is donor held financially responsible or does facility/MD write off charges for complication treatment? Guest guest
Does anyone have a policy they are willing to share regarding Living Donor Complications and coverage? I am particularly looking to read language on donor complication coverage for non-Medicare covered transplants. I realize Medicare will cover complications, but I’m interested in those where Medicare wasn’t in the picture at all. Thanks in advance!
