Hello all,

I have been reading the letters about biofeedback and thought I would

tell you of my experience with it. I was trained by one of the world's

leading experts in this field and by using the cassette tape he made for

me I can raise the temperature in my right ankle/foot from about 76

degrees to 94 degrees in 1/2 hour. This decreases my pain, relaxes my

muscles throughout my body and allows me to release a lot of tension and

pain. This is done without meds, heating pads, whirlpools, baths, TENS

or any other external device. I simply follow the mental exercises I was

taught and these things take place. I can, when I am in practice, close

my eyes for 30 seconds and calm my heart and raise the temp in my foot

dramatically. I have also been able to successfully use this method to

thwart off a migraine that I have had for 2 - 3 days and taken everything

under the sun to get rid of. Before Dr. Wickram took me on as a patient,

I was given a battery of tests I had to " pass " before he would even try

to teach me biofeedback. Only 1 in 10 people can truly be hypnotized and

can successfully use biofeedback to bring about physical changes. I am

one of the lucky ones! I will never forget the first time he taught me

to use his method. I was sitting in a recliner with electrodes snapped

to my fingers and forehead hooked up to this huge computer with a large

TV kind of screen giving off readings about temp, blood pressure, brain

activity, respiration, etc. There were 2 doctors observing and Dr.

Wickram was doing the talking. Well, I got so relaxed lying there with 3

strange men watching me that I fell asleep! LOL One of the doctors

gently tapped the recliner with his toes to keep me from going sound

asleep. I was amazed that I could get so relaxed so easily. I did not

know I could consciously do that. Anyway, it does work for strong willed

people as I am as stubborn as they come! LOL If any of you have access

to Dr. Ian Wickram I would go see him if you've never tried biofeedback.

He is very knowledgeable and compassionate. He has written many books

and is the doc the Air Force used to write the manual on training men to

keep their hands and feet warm in Alaska when they lose a glove or

something. He is very softspoken and he is very good. Well, it is time

to listen to my tape and relax these old muscles! Take care, Debbie/DJ
