Medicare question

Hi All

If a patient has

private insurance and gets Medicare effective one month after kidney

transplant, does Medicare become the secondary or would it take the place of

primary. I know there is a 30 month rule, but I just wanted to verify since Medicare

did not pay for the transplant on the day of surgery. Patient’s

application was sent months before transplant, but Medicare claims they did not

get it in time. (strange)

Thx
