Guest guest
Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), which used to be called SI, usually involves multiple senses. For the sound part of it, it's very similar to misophonia. SPD people tend to have a particular problem with loud noises, as well as certain sounds. Since I have SPD, I think of misophonia as just one part of it. I cannot handle loud noises, gum snapping/cracking, or when people suck air between their teeth. I also can't wear wool or any clothing tags against my skin, and I have a definite problem with flourescent lights. Your mom sounds like she knows what she's talking about. I wouldn't worry about whether you have SPD or misophonia...it sounds like both, but I don't think they are mutually exclusive. > > My mom thinks I have sensory integration becauae I hate a few smells and silk. My spund sensitivity is exacally like misophonia. >
Guest guest
There is therapy for people with SPD. They mainly include sensoried that aren't sound. I also can't sleep with light or vegue light. I have been in many fights with my sister over this. She needs a bright night light. > > > > My mom thinks I have sensory integration becauae I hate a few smells and silk. Guest guest
That's true I think, which is why I don't have any therapy for it. My biggest sensory issue is auditory. Poor you! A bright nightlight? Ugh! I definitely couldn't handle that one. I'd be arguing, too! > > > > > > My mom thinks I have sensory integration becauae I hate a few smells and silk. Guest guest
I also use to share a room with both my brother and sister. My brother snores and grinds his teeth. My sister snores. My dad gave me his headphones used for airports and shooting guns after I strangled my brother for snoring. I then moved to wax earplugs. I got some stuck in my ear. I then use foam earplugs and still do. I also habe visual sensitivity. I am doomed because my sister is sick that means SNIFFLEs, CLEAR THROAT, and COUGHING. > > > > > > > > My mom thinks I have sensory integration becauae I hate a few smells and silk.
