Guest guest
I have learned, you need to apply to a co-pay assistance program and have written denial before applying to Genentech. HealthWell has a program that is good. Have the patient call them at , HealthWell will send them paperwork to complete and you will have a physician statement to complete. The processing time is about 4 weeks. (sometimes less). Your Genentech rep may have a 14 day voucher to use during this process. Amellia Gay, TFC and WhiteTemple, TXfax >>> "Robin" 3/12/2012 9:04 AM >>> I have a patient who needs Valcyte. I requested assistance through Genentech and was denied because our patient has Medicare part D plan but the cost is $975.20 per month for the medication. Genentech told me to get a denial from Healthwell Foundation or Patient Access or Chronic Disease Funding. I checked all three websites and they only cover Kidney Transplant Immunotherapy (which Valcyte is not an Immuno).Any suggestions about what to do next? Thanks. Guest guest
I imagine your center is using the Valcyte for CMV? That is what you need to check for on the Healthwell site. I checked a couple weeks ago and the program was still open for CMV. Please feel free to let me know if you need any further assistance. Best of luck! J M. Guest guest
I was told by a rep at the Genentech assistance program last week that if a patient qualifies for Healthwell, then they would not qualify for Genetech assistance. Healthwell will only cover up to $2000 per year, so that is only a drop in the bucket towards what our part D population are facing for Valcyte expense. Does this sound right? Have others experienced this? I am meeting with our Genentech rep this week, so I hope to get further clarification on this. Deidra M. Guest guest
I have had HealthWell approve up to $4000 for Valcyte, depending on the patients copay. This does sound correct. Guest guest
Hi Robin, PAN covers Valcyte to prevent or treat CMV infection which is why the patients require it. If you follow their online steps to apply, you will get to the page that says the program is closed to new enrollees. If you printscreen that page and attach it to your GATCF app along with their “GATCF Patient Attestation of Co-Pay Assistance Denial” Form, that will satisfy the proof of INO denial. They really don’t seem to care that some other program may still be open, they will accept this as proof you looked elsewhere first. Hope this helps on Transplant Financial Coordinator Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital Legacy Transplant Services 1040 NW 22nd Ave Ste 480 Portland OR 97210 direct main office toll-free fax lmorriso@...
