Guest guest
Is anyone willing to share their pre-tx eval process? Does everyone see the patient on the same day, or do you split it up? Is everyone located in the same building? Etc….. Thanks! Sara Danner | Transplant Financial Coordinator | Memorial Medical Center | Springfield, IL Phone: | Fax: | E-mail: danner.sara@... Guest guest
Hi Sara, Our patients come in for ‘class’ which is the MD and surgeon presentation on pros/cons of transplant from the medical and surgical standpoint. We have 3-5 patients scheduled for a class. Then the patients are put into rooms and see all members of the team – md’s, social work, dietitian, TFC, and nurse coordinator. If the md finds them a suitable candidate then they will have labs, ekg, and CXR that day to begin the work up. Most of our team is located in the same general location in one building, but we use space in a different area that has a shared medical appointment room large enough for 5 patients and family members that they may bring with them. Guest guest
After we receive the referral SW/RN/Financial review things and then if approved get scheduled for the educational class. The same day as the educational class if they are interested to pursue txp they get their first ABO done. Then they are scheduled to see RN/SW/MD/Financial the same day. That same day they get the rest of their testing done (ekg, chest xray, etc) then they come back separately for a surgeon eval because they are with a different group and coordinating their appointments with our's didn't work. Our doctors do not work for our hospital but are located fairly close together.
