Guest guest
Liz: I know what you mean about the diuretics. I have been on Lasix now for about 5 years taking 40 mg once a day. I take a potassium supplement prescription drug called Klor-Con once a day as well because the lasix drains the potassium. I need it, but I do not really know how to get off of it. I have a lot of fluid build up in my ankles/feet and hands if I do not take it. Part of my problem is that I need to lose some weight, that might help.! I have heard of Kelp (herb) helping which I guess is seaweed. My sodium/potassium stays really low, even though the blood work shows my being in the low normal, sometimes that does not mean that much. (need more potassium) Through our support group I am wondering if I might not be low in magnesiumn, which I am finding out is so important now that I have been diagnosed with RA. Of course, I am one of these that is finding it hard to drink enough water. That is one of my downfalls. Sometimes the nutritional supplements for different things make me have heart palpitations. I have been to the ER several times for these and they find no cause for them. I think also I am low in estrogen. I do not want to take the hormone therapy (I did have a hysterectomy in 1986 and I am 50, I know I need it, but I do not like the side effects). I am looking into an alternative. If you hear anything I can do to get off of lasix let me know. Thanks Martha from St. Augustine gmsmith@....
