Good Afternoon,

I have a question as it related to the physician procurements covered by Medicare Part A for heart, lung and liver.

I bill for the physician transplants for cpt 32850,3390,33940 and 47133. These cpt codes are not paid by Part B because they are to be submitted to Part A. We submit a yearly report to Finance for these services and wait for them to send us a check.

What I don't know is how is my Part B payment included in the Part A payment?

Thanks You,

Bridget

Hi Bridget,The fee for the recovery of organs should be billed for payment by the transplant hospital. That becomes part A cost. It should be billed more often than annually because of the Medicare definition of timely billing being 12 months. The amount billed to Part B or the insurance company is for the actual transplant itself and has nothing to do with the organ recovery.Hope this helps,Thanks,BillReply-To: <TxFinancialCoordinators >Date: Fri, 13 Apr 2012 13:43:54 -0700 (PDT)To: <TxFinancialCoordinators >Subject: Medicare Part A Procurements
