Guest guest
Dear Dr Greenwald: Your article attacking Dr Brown and " THE NEW ARTHRITIS BREAKTHROUGH " is unacceptable. There are many treatments available for arthritis; some work for a time, some do not. Most are toxic over the long-term, and deal mainly with the symptoms of the disease. The literature is full of marginal results with these various treatments, and no one knows better than the patients that " many patients still face a future of chronic pain, progressive disability, and limited prospects. " (WG Bensen, et al, J of Rheumatology, June 1997)---------- Since 1990, five studies have tested the antibiotic, minocycline, for rheumatoid arthritis. All five studies have found it to be a safe and effective. 1-1st Netherlands study: 10 RA patients, Journal of Rheumatology, 17:1, 1990, pgs. 43-46 2-2nd Netherlands study: 80 RA patients, Arthritis & Rheumatism, 1994, 37:5, pgs. 629-636. 3-Israel study: 18 RA patients, Journal of Rheumatology, 19:10, 1992, pgs. 1502-1504. 4-U.S. MIRA study: 219 RA patients, ls of Internal Medicine, Jan. 15, 1995, 122:2, pg. 81-89. 5-U.S. University of Nebraska study: 40 RA patients, Arthritis & Rheumatism, 1997, 40:5, pgs. 842-848.---------------------- After your your toxic sulfa drug, azulfidine almost did me in, I have been on the antibiotic protocol for 11 months and improving every day. At the very least, rheumatologists should let patients know what the options are. The American College of Rheumatology should include this requirement in their code of ethics. Too many rheumatologists assume that they know everything. ------------------ I encourage you to read the many success stories at our web site : http://www.rheumatic.org Yes, this protocol requires improved diet, exercise, and immune correcting supplements. The lazy need not apply. Sincerely, Ray Barrett --------------------------------- --------------------------------- ---------------------------------
