Guest guest
Hi guys. Well we had 's eval yesterday. This was a team evaluation done with feedback and assesment given on the same day. The consensus at this time is that we have done well with and that he has caught up where he was delayed at this time. He does indeed have some difficult behaviors that can be indicative of Asperger's or OCD but he is not displaying enough delays or generalized symptoms to classify him as such presently. He would benefit from more schooling at this point, five days instead of three, and he would also benefit from some OT for his sensory issues. We are supposed to be connected up with a coordinating person/agency in our county that will help us access local resources for an OT for for J and for a suitable community preschool. We received kudos for a good parenting job with him. Gains will be measured in smaller increments and much harder work will go into them. Hrmmmm.....anyone heard that one before????? Gail's neuropsych evaluation was today. That is more intensive and we will not recieve the assesment from that for about two weeks. Preliminary synopsis is strongly leaning towards an overriding anxiety disorder, but the potential for Asperger's is quite strong and will be weighted and considered. It certainly would help to explain her social problems. They suggested that we seek another opinion with a psychiatrist at CDRC for her medication management issues and that we continue in our pursuit of referrals for her relfux and gallbladder problems. The team leader from yesterday suggested that he would like us to participate in a study out of Seattle for families with multiple dxs and members on the spectrum. It is a study that is looking into genetics and environmental factors. We will see what they want from us to participate. This could be interesting. Meanwhile Js belly is still bothering him and we can't figure out why. I'm beginning to wonder if it is because he has this new obsession with using HIS potty chair and he isn't pooping hardly at all. Sigh. BTW...I do mean HIS potty chair. It accompanies us everywhere in an oversized red backpack. My mom is not doing terribly well emotionally and I think it's probably related to her thyroid problems and chronic pain, but...I think it's a good thing we will be staying in a condo instead of all in the house. I think my three rowdy boys and the spats that are sure to follow with would be her undoing. Heck, I think they would be my undoing. Anyway, so far so good, nothing earthshattering news wise. I was really hoping for more for , but if OT and more preschool will do what we need than I'm okay with that. I'm really happy with the folks that worked with Gail and I think she was given a very thorough and thoughtful assessment with consideration to her complicated history. The question remains, will she be able to attend school next term or not. Right now I would say not. Miss you all. Hopefully I will be able to drop a line even if I can't read at all while I am up at my parents. Tonight I'm holed up in the hotel's computer room for an hour alone, by myself, with no children. Did I say that I was ALONE? HEHEHEHE. I'd love to read but there isn't enough time. Maybe next week. Save travels and Happy Holidays to all. Guest guest
: Sounds as if you have some preliminary answers on and Gail though they don't sound terribly surprising to you. Of course, why would they surprise you? Not Doctor ! I am glad that is catching up a bit and that the OCD/AS stuff can be at least temporarily put on the back burner. As for Gail, well, poor girl, I know she has been having an awful time. Very interested in hearing about her report when you get it.
