Hi Sara,

You have it correctly stated below. The internal swaps are

so much easier. You follow the same process for the donation, billing the

pro fees to the recipient’s insurance and the facility fees to the

OACC.

The hardest piece in this is making sure that the donor and

recipient pairs don’t get information about each other. This can be

tricky with billing but if you follow through the process and make sure

everyone is aware and doesn’t make unnecessary contact with the pairs,

you should have things covered.

If you start doing any outside swaps, please feel free to

contact me as I can assist in that process as well.

Subject: Donor Swaps

I

will be going through the Resource Guide soon, but I was wondering if someone

could give me a quick summary of how billing works for donor swaps. Right

now, I am only looking at donor swaps within our center only.

Is

it as simple as:

Donor

A is not compatible with Recipient A

Donor

B is not compatible with Recipient B

Donor

A is a match to Recipient B

Donor

B is a match to Recipient A

Donor

A is covered by Recipient B’s insurance

Donor

B is covered by Recipient A’s insurance

All

pre-transplant donor work up is billed to OACC as normal. Correct?
