Guest guest
Hi Maikaefer and all, I believe you are correct in that it was Samanos Sound Therapy. We came across the CD a while back and my son asked if he could destroy it! At the time he received therapy, we were not aware of misophonia and thought his issues were due to sensory defensiveness. On a separate note, my son has had his hearing checked a few times at Children's hospital and actually hears beyond what is considered normal/typical ranges. He has custom fit ear plugs which he uses on a regular basis. He has a pair that filter noise and a pair that block noise almost completely for sleeping. He has gotten used to them and says they are comfortable/tolerable. These ear plugs are not wax or foam. Rather, they are made from a soft plastic or rubbery material and are quite durable. They are made from molds taken from your ear canal and will last indefinitely unless you grow, loose them or your dog eats them! Insurance, if you have it, will usually cover a portion of the cost which isn't terrible. He does have to get new ones periodically as he grows. I definitely recommend these as an alternative when ipod, sound machines, etc., are not allowed or for times when it is not possible to remove oneself from trigger noises.
