RE: Three insurances

I think that as long as the patient is aware that you are not

able to bill the third insurance, and he wouldn’t have significant

balances after Medicare (and the secondary) then you should be fine.

The only concern would be if he was to lose the BXBS and then

relies on this third coverage for services and he would have a balance he could

not afford to cover.

Hey everyone,

I have a patient that was referred to our facility with three insurances.

Medicare is primary.

Out of state BCBS secondary- which I confirmed that does participate with our

center

This patient has a third policy through a company that we do not participate

with at all for transplant and are never willing to negotiate a contract.

My question is that if speak to this patient and they choose to come here does

it affect their benefits at all? Do we have to bill the third insurance? Even

though I'm not sure what would be left to bill? Any further thoughts on this?

Experience?

I just wanted to run it by someone because I'm not positive on any of it. I

really appreciate it!
