Guest guest
Hello I wonder if anyone has any good ideas to help with this patient please? An 84 year old with inoperable bowel cancer - inoperable because of her heart, no anaesthetist will touch her - and experiencing continuous GI bleeding, sometimes slow, sometimes not, enough to need transfusing every 2-6 weeks. She is incredibly sensitive to conventional meds and was recently tried by her consultant on tranexamic acid - which had severe side effects for her. I have found herbs that stabilise her heart condition nicely - she is on cactus, convallaria, hawthorn, valerian and codonopsis - the latter to help with blood building also; but have tried various herbs for the GI bleeding over the last 6 months without any success (until a couple of months ago we didn't know it was a tumour) I have tried - usually one at a time - and mostly in small but increasing doses - yarrow, agrimony, slippery elm, cayenne, geranium maculatum and capsella Stopping or even slowing the bleeding would help her enormously as she wouldn't get so tired and could do more - she is a wonderful lady, very brave and I would love to be able to help her many thanks
