Guest guest
New here and haven't been tested yet. I've had the bad neck on and off since I was a baby. Once I had it for 10 year straight. But found an answer from an Alt. Med. Doc. He said, (it sounds a bit gross)It was, tons of Vitamin C (wht is taht? maybe 2 grams - 3 grams through out a day?) and two or 3 or 5-6 of grams "gelatin". I got so desperate, I tried "half a dose of gelatin. It went half way away. So I thought, "it was going anyway, just coincidence..." So I didn't take more theh next day. It stayed the same. So the 3rd day, I tooke a whole dose. (Like every meal, I swallowed 2 grams.). Next day, it was gone completely. Didnt' come back for 2-3 years. And when it did, I took the c and the gelatin, it went away that day, again. Weird but true. a kink in the back, it works for, too. But that is just ME! It didn't work for a pinched nerve, but it didn't hurt. I use percdn./percctt and a muscle relaxer for that. I can't guarantee anything for anyone else. He said the "C" needs collagen to do it's job, and the Gelaten has that collagen? I don't even wanna know why it worked. -sue PamTristanJarod wrote: I get stiff neck, back problems. Yes. Guest guest
Sue, That's an interesting bit of info to know.. I know that I've had a lot of good results for my knees (no cartilage due to stupidity as a teen) with Glucosamin/Chondroiten tabs.... It makes sense.. vitamin C links with calcium.. links with bone stress/strength... the neck gets an awful lot of stress and abuse... Especially if you have long hair, which I do.... I do extra vitamin C for infections, colds, flu, etc.... I wish I could remember if I've ever had neck problems on days when I've upped my Cs.... Next time I do have trouble though, I'm gonna give it a try.... On Sat, 01 Mar 2003 09:01:59 -0800 Sue Darnell writes: New here and haven't been tested yet. Guest guest
See the thing with ME is that I used to be vegetarian, and I heard that "gelatin" is an animal by-product. somethng like horse hoffs ground up.So I woldnt go ner it for decades. I mean "why would I"? (But it made sense that I could have had an imbalance from such a restrictive diet, too, right?) I mean it can taste good, but Ugh! Like eating your dog or something. But I figured since the animal is already dead, and "normal people" with normal diets do'nt have this cramp thing, I thought, (half crippled in pain) that I had nothing to lose, to try it. I got no stocks in any vitamin comany, btw! He said you can get it in capsules or buy the unflavored in a box. He just pours it into his juice. I would gag. So I bought "capsules" at a health food store and made some with a box of Jello Gelatin. It was ok. But I don't use it that much. It worked right away for me and I could see the point of keeping on eating that stuff, ya know? So I ate some of my capsules, and some of the ones in the bottle, and I still have some of both left over. I'll tell you this. It is llike I wouldn't be caught dead without the weird stash in my cabinet. I use it so seldom, but when I need it, I do. I made a kit out of it and stuck in a ziplock baggy. I once used it for a repeitive stress injury I got on my right typing hand and it worked, too. Funny, I got in the other hand, a month later. It worked again. Never got it again, - 3 years ago. I was such pain I was crying. Go to an MD? Ya gotta be kidding. They'd xray it and poke at it, and tell me to take Motrin. I'm a bit anti-doctor (doctors used to be cool when I was akid, but now they are afraid to help us!). Sooo, what does colllagen have to do with calcium, btw? I'm half dumb about some of this, and too stressed to look it up. Gotta update some web pages, Take some pics and post some ebay stuff. Gotta keep feeding the kids and the pets, ya know? Don't have weekends off, till my last kid grows up. I don't know how to be normal. -Sue. topper2@... wrote: Sue, That's an interesting bit of info to know.. Guest guest
Sue, If I'm wrong here, someone correct me... Growing up mom taught me all kinds of little home thingys... something is pulling together here for me.... when I make chicken soup.. I boil out the bones... reduce the stock.. refrigerate overnight.. skim the fat ... I'm left with a jelly.. that is the same stuff, right? The gelatin that is derived from the bones and cartilage of the chicken.. you get that same jelly stuff when you cook out any bones.. and reduce it, chill it and skim it... it's that jelly that I freeze to use in flavoring rice, soups, gravies and sauces. She always said that if your bones are hurting you need more minerals in your system.. the best way to do that was to use home made stock.. from the jelly. I do know that unflavored gelatin and jello are basically the same thing.. jello just has sugar and flavor and coloring in it to make it a dessert. Unflavored gelatin is used to make chiffon pies and cakes.... What other trivia can I pull out of my head... Hmmmmmm Hospitals feed you jello after surgeries and major illness, etc... they always say that it is easy to digest.. there are other things that are easy to digest... is there something, a trace ingredient in jello that help our bodies heal... You eat soup broth too after illnesses... makes you wonder dont' it? For the body to repair bones and cartilage etc. like after an injury.. it needs some basic building parts..... back to the gelatin... made from minerals from bones and cartilage.... and again.. I'm wondering..... Pain.. is a symptom that something is wrong.. damage.. injury.... ...... does that fly with anyone else? Guest guest
Yeh, I agree. Many times Chicken soup has cured us. In fact, chicken soudp is what made me realize that vegetarianism wasn't working for me. I even ate all the amino acids for humans, but something was missing, I gues. That was a loong time ago, though.... Now, I'm lean moderate meat eater. Only 'cause everybody says a little meat is better for me, and it seems to be... But chicken soup didnt cure my neck, that I remember.... but I can try it next time just in case.... -sue topper2@... wrote: Sue, If I'm wrong here, someone correct me... -Sue.
For the body to repair bones and cartilage etc. like after an injury.. it needs some basic building parts..... back to the gelatin... made from minerals from bones and cartilage.... and again..
