Thank you London Bobby, that was a treat ;-)

Judy B (named after Judy Garland, as no doubt you were, too!)

Sid (90 and still working!) named his daughter after Judy Garland and finally got to meet the star when he accompanied her at the Talk of the Town in London, perhaps her last public performance. Off topic but a charming story , I hope you can view the Youtube video of The Three Pianists Concert where he speaks of private moments with her.

That's so sweet . A very nice way to celebrate the very special Judys on

this list. I have wanted to welcome our new Judy to the list, but other things

have kept me sidelined, but here are a few words for now.

I do empathize (I am AS though.) Many members who have been in long term

relationships and stumble over the discovery of AS do go through a period of

shock and then personal re-evaluation of everything as you thought you

understood before. For many, there is a sense of having been cheated out of a

fuller life, if only we had known. I know that one well! We all wish we had

known before! If you can access the archives you will probably recognize things

that right away, you will say, " yes, that's it, that's what I feel. " Know that

it *can* get better, but as one of our members always said, " it takes two. " One

can not do it alone. One can only nurture the self, which sometimes members here

learn to do, once they realize they can only do so much for another person.

With the limited time I have I hate to just mention a few members and leave

others out, but I have to, just to give you a place to start. If you can go into

the archives and type in the keywords " Judy Barrow " (hope you don't mind this,

Judy B) she has such wonderful insights from the NT spouse side, and she is

certainly my " go to " person for the NT perspective :)

Others, like Breezy, Hazel, Anoush, Hassadah, and Newland the founder of

ASPIRES, and many more, share a very loving and knowledgeable perspective.

For the AS male side, Ron Hodgecock (sorry Ron quite possibly misspelling your

last name) gives such clarity to how the AS male brain works his posts are

really worth a readl

Bill Loughman also gave some very insightful accounts. Greg Greer's accounts

also reveal such insight into his own AS, and how his spouse interprets his

Aspieness. It is a cautionary tale for all of us. Then of course there is the

female AS perspective, there's more of us, though AS women tend to be more NT

than AS men, just like NT women tend to be more NT than NT men, LOL. Simon

Baron-Cohen says that AS is a manifestation of the extreme male brain, LOL.

Sorry guys, not a slight, you know that, I hope :) Anyway hope this gives you a

place to start if you are searching through our very busy archives.

Do you have access to a library where you are, or a good bookstore? One of my

old favourites was Gisela & Slater-'s " An Asperger Marriage. "

" Aspergers in Love " and " The other half of Asperger Syndrome " both by Maxine

Aston is recommended by many. Another highly touted book is Sanford's

" Asperger Syndrome and Long Term relationships. " For those who are really

experiencing challenges, anything by Kathy Marshack on Aspergers is good, and

she has a website.

There are many excellent newer books and resources and I hope other members can

make recommendations.

hope this helps!

I appreciate all the helpful information you've given me, Helen, and

I intend to look into the resources you mentioned. I'm having a lot

of "yes that's how I feel" experiences. I am very happy to be

involved with this helpful, loving group. Since last month when I

realized Tom was AS, I've felt kind of lonely. I have this new

information that changes how I look at Tom, and no one who

understands what it means to me to share it with, or receive

feedback from--until now. I am grateful. Judy L
