Guest guest
Hi, For those who don't know me, I'm a 25-year-old woman with autism and mental health problems (dissociative identity disorder and PTSD). I can have terrible meltdowns, but sometimes I wonder whether they are autistic meltdowns or related to my other mental health conditions. Like, today I threw some objects and banged my head for a long time. The reason seems to have been that the staff were going to be in a meeting and would be not easy to reach for a few hours. However, it also felt like anohter personality of me had taken over, someone who is severely autistic. I am diagnosed with Asperger's so technically you shouldn't expect such severe meltdowns from me. At least that's what the stereotype tells me. I also was very emotional, which I don't know whether it's common with autistic meltdowns. Any input on how to sort this out and how to find stratgies to prevent this? I'm already on medication which normally works quite well.
