Guest guest
, Good morning! Typically I am a lurker here BUT if someone ask about an ingredient I will try to jump in! I sell both acids as well as a new liposome based salicylic liquid 2% base. My prices are in line as well. Shipping is the cost, period. *Just curious if this is for your pets? I blend my own shampoo for my mastiffs with the acids to keep blocked sebacous glands at bay. ;-) Just noticed your e-mail is all... Take care, Markey www.gardenofwisdom.com *snipped* > I'm looking for glycolic acid 70% and salycilic acid. > Thanks, > Hudgins > docs2pets@... >
Guest guest
Hey All - Anyone here know much about acids? I'm working on a leave on skin formula that is fairly acidic. PH of 4. Currently I'm using Triethanolamine to bring the PH up to 6. My problem is, I have to use about 3% TEA to get the PH to 6. I've read through some of the old posts on TEA and my own research and I don't think a 3% level is safe, though I've been testing it on myself with no problem. My question; Is 3% TEA too much and/or does anyone know of another safer way to adjust PH to more alkaline other than TEA? Other facts about this formulation – It has a high protein content and fairly high solvent content and the emulsification system is very dependent on PH. I'm concerned with the long term use safety with such a high level of TEA. I mention the protein content because I remember reading something on this board that a high protien/amino acid content possibly makes TEA more er.... toxic - for lack of a better word.... Can I mix Tetrasodium EDTA with the Triethanolamine? I'm also not sure If I want the PH at 6 – maybe I'll make it 5 but that would still require about 2% TEA - an unusual amount to get the PH up. I would like to keep my PH adjustment under 1% if possible. Thanks, Mark
