Guest guest
Hi everyone. I've made a table of all the info I've got from you guys over the last month - to give to my GYN. I thought that maybe you'd like to look at it/add to it. H
Guest guest
Hi! I am currently going through a particularly bad flareup and was wondering if anyone has any comment to make about it. To recap, I am almost 47, have VV (burning pain almost constantly) for almost a year, and have been taking an antidepressant since August. While my VV pain has not gone away, it has gotten a lot better. Well, anyway, last month I got a horrible cold....terrible sinus headache/pain, continual coughing, etc., etc. I had it for 5 weeks. About mid-way during this, I went to the doctor. He said the cold going around was particularly nasty, and told me I had a sinus infection for which he gave me 10 days worth of amoxicillen. Feeling as bad as I did, I took the antibiotic but also took acidolopholus like I always do. The funny part is that during the time my cold was so bad, my VV problem practically subsided. It may be I was so sick with the cold that I didn't care.!!!! Well anyway, my cold is gone, but now I am in a lot of VV pain.....constant burning and raw feeling. It's practically as bad as last summer when my pain was at its peak. My husband said maybe the cold triggered something. He also had this cold, too, and he says he still doesn't feel normal although he can't pinpoint anything. I am supposed to have my annual physical soon (which was cancelled in January since I was so sick) so I will be seeing my doctor then. Any ideas out there as to what is happening? You can write me directly if you like. Thanks. Kathy KGGRY@...

Guest guest
Hi Beth, This is a and I think that my constant vulvar burning pain is all caused by a resistant strain of yeast that just won't go away on it's own. I really want to try Lamisil, an antifungal drug to see if I would have any success with it. But my question to you is what is the Lahoz candida treatment and how could I receive this treatment? I would like to try it if it works to kill yeast even resistant strains. Could you please tell me everything you know about it I would really appreciate it. Thanks, a

Guest guest
, This is a and I remember in one of your replies you said that you were misdiagnosed with vulvar vestibulitis when you really had cyclic vulvovaginitis. Well, I believe that my constant burning vulvar pain is caused by a resistant strain of yeast but my doctors don't believe me. I am going to see a specialist in a couple a days and I'm am going to ask him if he will prescribe Lamisil for me even if he can't find any yeast. The reason why I think its yeast because the only thing that worked to make all the burning and all the pain go away was TINACTIN. This is an antifungal cream for guys who have jock-itch. Well, I used this for about two weeks. After a couple days using it I could urinate without any burning. About a week into using it I felt 100% better like I was cured!!!!!!!!!! But then using it into the second week something happened and my left labia started to hurt. So then I thought maybe this stuff is too strong for my delicate skin and even though it was working it also was irritating my skin. So I made an appointment with my Gyn to ask them if I should be using this. Well, that day that I went to the doctor I did not put the TINACTIN on. All my skin was burning, I'm mean all over. I think the reason for this was because the TINACTIN was too strong of a cream. I also had a biopsy that day and the results came back chronic inflammation and they said there wasn't any yeast present. Well, I think the reason there was chronic inflammation was that it was due to the TINACTIN and the reason why they didn't find any yeast because the TINACTIN did work to kill whatever kind of yeast I had, that's why I think I felt so much better like 100% better. TINACTIN was the only thing that has worked for me. I've tried steroid creams, antibiotics, lidocaine, and even over-the counter yeast meds, anti-depressants, and none of these things have worked at all, they haven't even given me any relief. Also, another thing that helps the vulvar burning and the burning with urination is baths in baking soda. But baking soda baths and the TINACTIN which I can't use even though it worked because it's too strong for my tissues are the only two things that work or have worked. Now, with your experience with a terrible yeast problem do you think I am right that I might have a resistant strain of yeast that is going to require a long-term treatment of specific antifungals like Nizoral or Lamisil????? I would really like your opinion on this. I just hope this specialist understands me and he at least goes along with my theory and doesn't shut me out from it because I really believe that yeast is the cause of my problem. Guest guest
Carolyn, This is a. I'm not too sure if physical therapy is really working for my vulvar burning pain but I think it's definitely helping me to relax the muscles around the pelvic area that are really tight because of all the stress that I have from going through this. But I really think a resistant strain of yeast is the cause of my constant burning pain in my vulva area. Sincerely, a

Guest guest
a, I'm not the one you were replying to, but I wanted to make one comment. From what I have read here and in some books, you can certainly have yeast problems and still have negative yeast tests. From what I understand, there are different kinds of yeast and also the yeast can get into the tissues and not show up on a culture. I have never had a positive yeast test, yet I feel that my problem is at least partly caused by yeast (and partly hormones). I have been convinced by several people on both lists (for example, Carla) to request long-term Diflucan when I go to the doctor's in March. I think it's worth a try! Also, I am concerned about my hormones because of my age (nearly 47) so I am also exploring that. Just don't be convinced that just because your test says no yeast that it means you have no yeast problems. My two cents. Good luck!!! Guest guest
Hi, I don't want to disagree with you but the yeast, any kind will show up o the culture. A culture is soething where it is allowed to grow for 3 or 4 days. It is NOT the one they do in the office where they put it under the microscope right away and declare you don't have any yeast. The reason I know this is I just went through this with my doctor. The one that was done in the office showed no yeast but the culture was positive for candisas albicans. I asked if the other lesser know yeasts would show up in the culture and my doctor said they would show up. Luckily I don't have them at this time. Another thing which I never knew, using the Diflucan can cause burning and itching as the yeast die off. Just a thought. Michele D

Guest guest
a, I don't know if you can do this or not but before I saw my specailist I was sent a sheet of information. I was not to be using any creams or medications 30 days prior to seeing her..Yooowww! Well I couldn't do it and she told me that with yeast medications they stay in your body for as long as 2 weeks and she would not be able to tell what I had. So she gave me some steroid medication for the inflmtion and told me to come back in 30 days. On this visit I had an instant yeast test done and one that was to be cutured for 3 to 4 days. The instant one (where they take a sample and look under the microscope while you are still in the office) did not show any yeast, but the culture came back positive. Make sure they do this culture test. In the mean time since I kinda thought and the doctor thought I had a yeast infection I was put on Diflucan 2 times a week for 4 weeks. (1 250mg tablet every 4th day). I just went back to see her an she has me on Diflucan 200 mg once a week for 3 months. It is ard to get rid of. As of today 2-21 I am feeling pretty good. (Knock on wood). I also do not eat any sugar and watch how many pretzels, etc I eat. Also fruit has alot of sugar in it so if I have a piece of fruit I try to make it one with a lower sugar content and eat it on an empty stomach. Just a thought Michele D

Guest guest
Hi there --- about yeast not showing up on slides. I had candida problems but often nothing would show up on slides. it is not necessairily just yeast in the vagina that is causing problems but yeast in the digestive tract. in crook's book he statess that an overload of candida in your body, not just your vagina, can be a cause of VV. of course an overload of gut candida may often mean yeast in the vagina too. just in case maybe it was this type of yeast somebody was referring too...... Guest guest
I have a question...many people have mentioned " yeast die-off " and symptoms they get. For those who have experienced this yeast die-off, what symptoms do you get? Does it make your VV better, worse, or about the same? For those who first went on the anti-yeast diet (only veggies, meat, fish) did your VV pain at first feel better, worse or about the same? Thanks for your help.
