Hi everyone! Some of you may remember me, my daughter Emma had tethered cord

surgery for an occult tethered cord (That didn't show up on MRI) back in May

2008. She did fabulous after it and it fixed all her kidney ailments. (They

weren't functioning, she had grade 5 reflux, her bladder wasn't working). They

were shocked.

But this post is about my 2 1/2 year old. She has NEVER had a UTI/Kidney

infection - those were Emma's first signs. But I'll tell you what's going on

and you tell me if I'm being paranoid or I should get her checked out.

First off she has a crooked butt crack and small dimple in the top. It's an

" innocent " dimple that goes nowhere, but it's never been checked. Sometimes we

notice, that like Emma she won't pee. From like 7am till AFTER naptime. The

other day she was crying about how bad her belly hurt and I kept telling her to

go and FINALLY she did. Whatever, maybe we are being paranoid or overly

conscious of that.

Lately though she's been complaining her left leg hurts. She'll wake up at

night SCREAMING and crying about it. She'll come up to us and randomly tell us

her toes hurt, her legs hurt. Always the same leg. She'll also pull it up and

down funny when it hurts - I don't know if that makes any sense, it would be

like if something is stinging you and you just don't know what to do - that's

what she does when she says it hurts. My mommy gut says she is NOT making up

the leg pain b/c she doesn't do it frequently for attention, she does it say

once a week to once every other day and it will go in spurts. I haven't noticed

any limping.

So I wonder, do you think I should have her checked out given that this CAN be

hereditary? Where do I start? Emma's old urologist? But she doesn't have many

urology symptoms other than holding her pee. (I'd want them to take an u/s of

her bladder and kidneys and see if htey are getting hydro, etc) Or should I ask

my ped? (I'm not sure how useful she'd be!) It would be overkill to go RIGHT

to Emma's neurosurgeon wouldn't it???

Where do I start? And AM I being overly paranoid????
