Guest guest
Hi Beth. You don't mention what the product is that needs preserving and I would guess that is why you have not got an answer to your question. To answer your question though; based on what you have said so far Germall Plus should work for your product. It would have been helpful to have all the ingredients and what type of product you are making. Pat. > > Good morning! I get confused with the Germalls and Germabens, so for a product which has mostly water, then witch hazel, some alcohol, and glycerin in it, would Liquid Germall Plus be the best preservative? I put Phenonip in a tester for myself because that's what I had on hand. I don't SEE anything new in there, but I don't think Phenonip is the appropriate preservative for this. Guest guest
Oops! That was an incomplete post. I don't know why I used the word product instead of toner. Sorry about that. So it would be a toner, and maybe something that my grandmother called a splash. That would be all the ingredients other than a preservative. The water will also be infused in some cases. so for a product which has mostly water, then witch hazel, some alcohol, and glycerin in it, would Liquid Germall Plus be the best preservative? Guest guest
Beth, Germall plus is Propylene Glycol (and) olidinyl Urea (and) Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate while germaben II is Propylene Glycol (and) olidinyl Urea (and) Methylparaben (and) Propylparaben. So you can see that they are very similar. Germaben II contains parabens. They are both suitable for emulsions and both have similar pH ranges. So it is really up to you to determine which is best at preserving your product. > Good morning! And keep in mind that you cannot see bacteria, so just because it " lok ok " does not mean it is ok. If you are going to use it in a lotion or cream I would suggest Germall Plus; either the powder or the liquid will work for you. Pat.
