Guest guest
Okay, this is going to sound so crazy, and I hesitate to mention it b/c you're all going to think we're nuts, but my husband has been thinking of making a twin mattress out of Seventh Generation diapers. If you stack them on their sides and really compact them together, they are just as firm as any mattress. (Just think of how firm a pack of diapers is and then imagine them without the plastic wrap). They're firmer than the mattress we sleep on ourselves. And they're pretty much free of everything. And when compact, they are like books tightly shoved into a bookshelf - they don't move at all. Noah's bed doesn't have springs. It's solid wood across the bottom. We'd stack all the diapers in to fill up the frame and then cover with an organic sheet. Then, we're looking at somehow doing a waterproof mattress cover. All of that is not yet worked out b/c I think the covers are treated. We're still try to sort out all the details. We may end up putting 16 fitted sheets on top of each other or put towels under the top sheet each night. Who knows. Anyway, 7th Generation diapers are expensive, so it'd cost us about $400 in diapers - which is cheaper than an organic mattress and we know Noah doesn't have a reaction to them b/c he wears them everyday. Okay, there's our crazy idea. Just wanted to throw it in.
Guest guest
Hi, I've never been completely comfortable with their diapers because they are made out of petroleum products. However, I don't know that the Tushies I use are any better. They probably have all sorts of junk in them. Good luck!
