Guest guest
Ginger, as you know, is so good for so many uses. I make a " syrup " by peeling 1 pound of fresh ginger. Pulse in the food processor. Add to about 3 1/2 c water. Boil for 5 minutes, then turn off heat. Cover and let set on burner for 8 hours or overnight. Strain through cheesecloth or colander lined with coffee filters. Store in the fridge. It can last for several weeks in a covered container. We use this to make our own version of ginger ale by adding water, sugar, lemon. My children love this, and the house smells so good while the ginger cooks.
