I can really relate to you, Addy. I'm 42 now, but when I was younger, I could

almost never eat a meal with my family without severe distress. And when anyone

fixed a snack...I would go to my room and plug my ears to avoid hearing any of

the clinks. It got so bad I had to plug up the bottom of my door with a towel so

I wouldn't smell the smells or hear even an inkling of sound. It was intense

suffering! I'm doing a lot better (but by no means am perfect) at this point in

my life, mainly because I don't live with those family members anymore...but

also because I have had a lot of success with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Have

you thought about trying it?

now if I am in the living room and they are eating or someone is doing

something, the sound of the spoons and forks hitting the plate reallllllly send

me into anxiety and I get so mad at my sister. My mom yelled at me yesterday for

getting angry because for the next few hours I was in a bad mood because of it.

And just the sound of my mom making dinner gets to me. I really hate it! I love

being able to lay in the living room because I don't feel so far away from my

family. But now I might not be able to. The kitchen noises are ughhh.
