Working with EN and PG

I was diagnosed with EN about 8 years ago after being sent to a dermatologist

for a diagnosis. My GP said he would be able to treat it and so far all he did

was give me steroids. I am going to be looking for a new dermatologist in my

area closer to where I live. Any suggestions how to find one that is familiar

with EN. I live in Alabaster AL, so if anyone knows of one in the area please

let me know. I am also wondering how all of you handle the EN and PG and work

full time. I am suffering from EN right now and it seems to have gotten alot

worse this time with lumps even on my knee caps. Have been under an extreme

amount of stress lately and I am sure that probably has something to do with it.

I am also Type 2 diabetic and it too has gone crazy. I have been able to keep

the diabetes under control with diet only, but I am sure I will now be on meds

after next week. I am not sure if the EN is causing the spike in Bld Sug. or if

the Bld. Sug. is causing the EN to flare up.

Also how do all of you work and deal with the pain in the legs, swelling and the

rest of the aches and pains. If I took off every time I had this to be in bed

for a week or more I would lose my job. Have any of you gone on disability

with this? I have taken 2 days off from work, but am not looking forward to

going back on Wed. Any suggestions with Dr's in my area or how to deal with

this and work full time would be helpful.

Hi .I hate to be Debbie Downer, but I have never, in my 36 years of having EN had a great doctor. Ever. And I have seen 100's. They all want to slam you full of antibiotics or steroids that ultimately wreak more havoc on our immune system. It is the alternative doctors who have helped me the most. And being super proactive in what I eat and how I live. That being said sometimes stress can just wipe you out and the EN is just there waiting.I do several things. One I take a great probiotic daily. Dr. Ohhira's (they are expensive, but worth it). Probiotics are essential for healthy colon and ultimately the skin. The better you take care of ridding the body of bad bacteria and filling it full of good bacteria. Bad bacteria accumulates over the years as we get older and that we cannot get rid of without Probiotics. So using the best is very important.I try as best as I can to eat a gluten free diet. Your colon is a huge contributor to skin issues. I feel fantastic and have little to no outbreaks when I am consistent. I do not drink anything caffeinated. I do not eat soy in any form.I take Vit D - 5,000 units a day. (I had my vit levels checked by a lab and was extremely deficient with D. Most people are. )I was diagnosed with a bad thyroid so I take medicine for that. Usually when my thyroid gets out of hand my lumps appear. The brand I use is Metagenics.when I do outbreak:I use Futuro stockings (they are expensive about 25 - 30 bucks.) I elevate my legs as much as possible.I soak Braggs Organic Apple Cider Vinegar on paper towels and drape them on my lumps and this helps them alleviate the sting and swelling. Kind of stinky, but it works. And it works rather quickly. It will sting a little if you have any open wounds so be careful. Braggs is awesome! You can get it at any great health food store.I take vitamins that help with Adrenal fatigue: www.adrenalfatigue.orgThis helps manage stress related hormones, which are usually fried with people who suffer from EN.Here's some other things that have worked in conjunction with the above:acupuncture: I've literally seen the heat emanate from the needles when in the doctors office. Acupuncture helps maintaining calm too. I go to a local acupuncture college and have the grad students work on me because it is 25. bucks a visit.BiofeedbackMeditationYogaI hope this helps.
