I have had arthritis for 15 years now and I just have one question and Im not being facetious I want to know what you think if AP does not work.I have tried it for 21/2 years with only worsening symptoms and had to go to MTX to stop the progress..... ??? Just a question xx gentle hugs Root >> Hi , Well, considering we both have long standing disease, I think we have to give it at least a 5 year go....plus, I would want to try various antibiotics if the ones Im taking dont do the trick. I have to say, if it were left up to my subjective evaluation of my condition, Id have to say Im no better, and in fact have symptoms now that I havent had for years...however, my lab results are showing very steady improvements, so that is what keeps me encouraged. Dr. Franco does very extensive lab work each time I go, and one can clearly see the changes, some more sure than others. I am also not good at taking supplements or sticking to the diet, so there's always room for improvement at my end too. There is always the chance that this treatment is just not for everyone. I am well aware of that. Then again, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing out there I would take as an alternative, so this is it, for me. Im in for the long haul. Yes, I too get discouraged at times. Fortunately, from the beginning, I knew not to expect overnight success, so my expectations have always been clear. That helps. Hang in there ...they are learning more all the time about these diseases and this treatment. No one has all the answers, to be sure, but we are fortunate to have this opportunity amidst the other alternatives. Hope you are doing well...better, anyway. :-)) OXOXO Colleen
Guest guest
Dear Root(love that name!) I really didn't get any better till I tried the Clindamycin. First the IM. That helped the feet. Then the IV this fall and that helped the wrists. I still have a long way to go but I agree wih Colleen. I think you should either add or try another antibiotic. But of course I'm only a woman and it's only my opinion!! <big smile> Cooky Billnconi@... wrote: > > From: Billnconi@... > > In a message dated 99-02-15 10:15:51 EST, you write: > > << Colleen > I totally agree with your response to . Guest guest
are you still taking 200mg of doxy, Have you considered reducing the dose and seeing if that helps. I notice in from Denmarks posting today that she started out high then backed off and that seemed to help her. I have been surprised how sensitive I am to small changes in the doxy dosage. This seems curious because in the past I have happily taken 10 day courses of doxy for sinus and not flared. I think there is a different dynamic going on in the longterm use of antibiotic at low dosages. Re your belief that antibiotics don't help those with longterm RA. I was diagnosed 22yrs ago, had travelling inflammation ,IBS etc before that for about 10 yrs. My RA has been severe and unremmitting however I am now getting noticeable benefit from antibiotics. I believe there are several other 'longtermers' in the group who are having similar benefits. best wishes - Barbara At 13:37 15-02-1999 EST, you wrote: >From: Billnconi@... > >In a message dated 99-02-15 10:15:51 EST, you write: > ><< Colleen > I totally agree with your response to . Guest guest
Hi Cooky, The Macrolides ( Clindy, Azithro, Biaxin Erythro, etc. ) if I remember correctly, are bacteriacidal ( kill the critters ). The Tetracyclines are bacteriastatic ( keep the critters from reproducing ). A healthy immume system is necessary for Tetracycline usage. Hope this helps.
