Guest guest
Thank you to Heidi Salerno and another lady I chatted with last month about how to get out of my lease and noisy neighbors. I finally went and got a hyperacusis diagnosis from an audiologist, and used that to get released from my lease this week! I live in a cheap, middle level apartment with stomping above me and loud scraping and dragging noises on the tile, and booming, banging, slamming doors, and yelling, and squeaking bed frame over my head. It's miserable. I can never relax in my own home, unless I'm knocked out on valerian Root and melatonin or anti-anxiety medicine for the worse times. Unfortunately, the doctor was of little help, aside from giving me my written diagnosis. She said I should just go see a GP for anxiety - very disappointing. But I got out of my lease - that is my small victory. I stood up for myself and told people I have a problem, and it's real, and I need help. Another thing, I told my boss today. I was standing in his office, talking about something, and I suddenly heard a high-pitched ringing, and wasn't sure if it was just my tinnitus or something else. It went off an on suddenly about 4 times, and he didn't seem to notice it. So I sad - do you hear that - high pitched ringing? And he said, Oh it might be the A/C unit or something. And I said, Oh OK,I wasn't sure if you heard it, too, or if it's just in my head! Then he said, Oh, do you have tinnitus? I said yes, and that I have other hearing sensitivities, that would get worse if I did TRT. I just told him to nonchalantly - something I might not have done before now that I'm comfortable letting people know what I have, and what it is. Honestly, getting that stupid piece of paper reassured me that I'm not crazy or being irrational. I'm not self-diagnosing. Anyways, that' just my small step in the right direction this week. My friend gave me some Lorazepam to try, and it definitely calmed me down through a near-anxiety attack caused by the stomping chick above me. But it also knocked me the hell out, and I had trouble waking up this morning. I will make an appointment to be seen, and maybe try a different kind of medicine.
